Your defense has retreated into a series of linguistic category errors and classic text-twisting cliches. By trying to pull the word "synergy" out of contexts where it does not belong, you are attempting to make a dead human corpse a co-author of its own resurrection.
1. Your Exploitation of Synergeō is an Exegetical Failure
You claim that synergism is all over scripture because the root word
synergeō appears in Romans 8. Let’s look at the actual text to see who is doing the cooperating:
- In Romans 8:26, the text states that the Holy Spirit helps the infirmities of the saints in prayer. It is not talking about an unregenerate sinner helping God regenerate them.
- In Romans 8:28, the text says that "all things work together (synergei) for good" to the elect.
Look at the grammar, LaGrange. The "synergy" in Romans 8:28 is between the providences and decrees of Almighty God working on behalf of His chosen people. The creature is the passive recipient of this work. To take a text about God’s sovereign orchestration of history and turn it into a human-divine handshake for salvation is a total distortion of the text.
My Comment: First, I wasn’t trying to give a comprehensive answer. Sometimes I put things in my posts intentionally for the other viewers so they don’t think we just make this stuff up. It doesn’t look like you are denying that the term is in scripture. SYNERGISM IS BIBLICALLY-BASED. Would you agree that the term synergei means working together or cooperating? Once again, it comes down to how you interpret it.
Rom 8:26 helpeth - doesn’t do it for you.
Rom 8:28 to them that love God (this means any individual) - this means God works together with any individual and He does it through the Golden Chain (Rom 8:29-30) for those called to be saints which is all of us. God working alone is not called to be a saint.
Here’s a question: When a preacher is preaching, is only God working through him or is he working to?
Examples: from my notes:
Cooperate = Wrought (KJV)
συνήργει synērgei (Strong’s #4903)
in these verses:
DRV
Rom 8:28 Working Together (all things)
Mark 16:20 working withal
1 Cor 16:16 worketh with us
2 Cor 6:1 we helping do
James 2:22 Cooperate

Rom 8:28 Work together
Mark 16:20 Working With
1 Cor 16:16 one that helpeth with
2 Cor 6:1 Workers together
James 2:22. Wrought

Rom 8:28 Work together
Mark 16:20 worked with them
1 Cor 16:16 fellow worker
2 Cor 6:1 working together
James 2:22 Was active along with
Clementine Latin Vulgate
Rom 8:28 Work together; cooperate
Mark 16:20 cooperabatur - to work together; cooperate
1 Cor 16:16 cooperanti - to work together; cooperate
2 Cor 6:1 Adjuvantes - To help; assist
James 2:22 cooperabatur - to work together; cooperate
Rom 8:26 (Helpeth = Strong’s #4878 - also Synergism) Luke 10:40
Here’s more:
The Greek for “labourer” is sunergos (Strong’s word #4904). It appears (usually as “fellow labourer” or “helper,” etc.) also in Rom 16:3 ,9,21, 2 Cor 1:24 , 8:23, Phil 2:25 , 4:3, Col 4:11 , 1 Thess 3:2 , Philem 1 ,24, and 3 Jn 8.
1Thess 3:2 says “Minister” so without “Cooperation” not only can God not work with you but you also can’t work with God.
Minister = Strong’s 4904. συνεργός
sunĕrgŏs
, soon-er-gos´; from a presumed comp. of 4862 and the base of 2041; a co-laborer, i.e. coadjutor:—companion in labour, (fellow-) helper (-labourer, -worker), labourer together with, workfellow.
1 Cor 15:10 But by the grace of God, I am what I am. And his grace in me hath not been void: but I have laboured more abundantly than all they. Yet not I, but the grace of God with me: (DRV)
1 Cor 15:10 ...yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me....(KJV)
With = Strong’s 4862. σύν
sun, soon; a prim. prep. denoting union; with or together (but much closer than 3326 or 3844), i.e. by association, companionship, process, resemblance, possession, instrumentality, addition, etc.:—beside, with. In comp. it has similar applications, includ. completeness.
Bestow (Luke 12:17) And he thought within himself, saying: What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?
Strong’s 4863. Lemma = synago συνάγω
sunagō, soon-ag´-o; from 4862 and 71; to lead together, i.e. collect or convene; spec. to entertain (hospitably):—+ accompany, assemble (selves, together), bestow, come together, gather (selves together, up, together), lead into, resort, take in.
My comment: Bestow is something received but it is a “Coming together” which implies a “Working together”. The Lemma is “synago” which is similar to “Synergism”.
Is 63:7 I will remember the tender mercies of the Lord, the praise of the Lord for all the things that the Lord hath bestowed upon us...
Explicitly Denies Their Regeneration in Acts 7:51
You make the unscriptural claim: "You can’t resist grace (the Holy Ghost) unless you had it." You are completely confusing the internal, vital application of saving grace with the external testimony of the Spirit.
In Acts 7:51, Stephen explicitly denies their regeneration by using the ultimate biblical titles for unregenerate deadness: "Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye."
Scripture explicitly defines the "circumcision of the heart" as the sovereign act of regeneration (Deuteronomy 30:6; Colossians 2:11). By declaring that these men were uncircumcised in heart and ears, Stephen is stating that they were completely devoid of saving grace, dead in their Adamic nature, and spiritually deaf. They "always resist" precisely because they lack the internal, quickening work of the Holy Spirit. They were resisting the external testimony of the Spirit speaking through the prophets (v. 52), not an internal grace they possessed. The only reason the elect Gentiles in Acts 13:48 did not resist is because they had already been sovereignly and immediately quickened by the Spirit in the Vital Phase, giving them a circumcised heart that naturally responds to the light.
My Comment: The external testimony matches their resistance to Prevenient Grace. If you resist the Holy Ghost then the grace does not always saving you, does it? This is preparation. Here again, what you are wanting to do is say there is a call with no grace? Is that what you mean?
Circumcision of the Heart - when does this occur? At Baptism (Col 2:11-13) You made my case. You are not resisting at baptism but since the Jews did resist, they resisted during the calling period during the time of preparation.
3. Categorical Misapplication of Revelation 3:20
You appeal to Revelation 3:20 ("I stand at the gate and knock") to claim salvation is conditional upon man opening a door. This is a classic misapplication of scripture. Revelation 3 is not an evangelistic sermon addressed to unregenerate, spiritually dead souls. Christ is addressing a visible, local church (Laodicea) regarding corporate fellowship and covenant restoration. You cannot bypass the explicit mechanics of election and deadness by lifting a pastoral warning to a church out of its narrative context.
My Comment: So now you are going to use a different hermeneutic but we aren’t allowed to do that. It shows how God works. He cooperates with us. He doesn’t force us. It points to cooperative grace.
4. The Regenerated Will is Changed Unilaterally
You write that man must "voluntarily turn to Christ at full regeneration." We agree that the act of faith is voluntary—the elect child of God is not coerced or dragged to Christ against their will. But why do they voluntarily turn? It is not because they manufactured a "lack of resistance" in a preparatory phase. It is because in the Vital Phase, the Holy Spirit immediately and unilaterally quickened them, transforming their hostile will.
As 2 Timothy 1:10 proves, the preaching of the Gospel does not create life; it brings life and immortality to light. When the light of the Gospel shines upon a soul that the Spirit has already made alive, that soul voluntarily, instantly, and infallibly recognizes the voice of its Shepherd and believes. Salvation is not a collaborative effort; it is an absolute, unshared work of sovereign grace from start to finish.
My Comment: We don’t deny the quickening of the Holy Ghost. WE SAY THERE IS NO RESISTANCE AT THE EFFECTUAL CALL. Man must receive the grace and faith and voluntarily come to Christ. All of this is simultaneous. When we receive baptism, regeneration happens. No resistance.

My Comment: Does a man have to hear the gospel preached in a church? I mean from the Bible? How was Abraham saved by hearing scripture? Hearing scripture and understanding it is not part of or requirement at the actual point of regeneration or the effectual call. It’s part of preparation, not full regeneration.
