He's been a regular at Pensacola Christian College for years, and preached at its opening convocation last fall!

Second high profile leader in these circles this year that has been revealed to be a predator. I've never heard either of them speak, but have seen him as a speaker for many conferences and teen camps. At some point, this fellowship needs to have a hard look at how they elevate men, and work on better accountability for those they deem as "leaders."

Wayne Hardy
article that mentioned Wayne Hardy

IFB Bible Baptist Church Of Stillwater, OK. Recently announced the cancellation of the upcoming annual Men’s Advance Conference.
Wayne Hardy was the senior pastor of Bible Baptist Church in Stillwater, Oklahoma, where he has served since March 1999.
On Wednesday, April 22, 2026, the church he pastored read his resignation letter, which stated that he had been unfaithful to his wife, resulting in his disqualification from ministry. (Adultery, Hebrews 13:4,
1 Timothy 3:2, Exodus 20:14) This announcement was made publicly to the church, and it is important to acknowledge that this church did the right thing in handling the situation. They did not attempt to cover it up, but instead addressed it openly, demonstrating a level of transparency and accountability that must be recognized.
He is no longer listed on the church staff website.

I subscribe to emails from Church Leaders website. There is frequent news about such misbehaviors.

It is very disturbing to see the terrible fall into the worst kinds of sin by many ministry leaders and pastors who were loved and respected by their peers and the congregations they served.

The body of Christ must work a lot harder, and exercise greater scrutiny, to prevent this from happening. Too many times it is covered up.

I knew a guy who had been a drummer in a rock group in the 1960s. He had observed the lead singers and lead guitarists would be flattered so much that they lost connection with reality and began to believe they were superior.

I wonder if this might also happen to pastors.

It can and does when they forget to be servants.

I think it might also be due to one pastor running everything: Sunday service, Monday prison ministry, Tuesday hospital visitation, Wednesday prayer meeting, Thursday Bible study, Friday evangelism, Saturday men’s group, etc.

When one man gives all the sermons and leads every activity, he can think he is the CEO, king, or idol of his church.

When the deacons and elders conspire to protect the pastor from critique and cover up sexual and financial sins, the problem gets even worse.

The false reprehensible teaching of the misapplied “touch not my anointed”, coupled with pastor as “umbrella of spiritual protection”, results in fear of exercising scrutiny and reluctance to confront a wayward power-tripping pastor who lords it over the congregation.

These are all properly positions and responsibilities of service.

In some churches he is literally the CEO. It is the way some churches are structured to satisfy government requirements. That doesn’t change the fact that he is to be a servant.

That is a problem.

It is nice when churches can respect the brethren equally. There is mention made in Scripture of the extra responsibility that pastors have and there is an amount of authority and leadership that is proper. It is in the job title. But i have yet to see an ordination where the pastor is anointed with oil or chosen like David was.
