Is God Patient With His Decree?

Why would God need to be patient with His chosen people if they have been predestined to salvation before they are born? God knows the inevitable outcome, so what is there to be patient about?

Is God Patient With His Decree?

God has the freedom to destroy any sinner at any time He sees fit. In the case of Pharaoh, He could have wiped him out a long time ago but kept him around to demonstrate His power. He allows time for men to repent, but at some point, they may reach the point of no return and are given over to...

Is God Patient With His Decree?

Except that the vessels of mercy were at one time vessels of wrath and God was patient with them. Ephesians 2:3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath...

Is God Patient With His Decree?

I have no problem with what the text says. Where we may disagree is the Calvinist's interpretation that the vessels of wrath and mercy were prepared before the they were born. I wouldn't agree with the Calvinist's interpretation that "longsuffering" is just a figure of speech. God is perfectly...

Is God Patient With His Decree?

I see too many instances where the Calvinist will arbitrarily say that God’s response to humans is only anthropomorphic language and should not be taken literally. It is an inconsistency that gives free rein for someone to say that anything is anthropological, including Predestination. Where do...

The Next Pope Has Been Elected

Yes, the apostasy is absolutely going to continue. The question is, will it be slowed down for now or will it be accelerated? I guess time will tell.

Is God Patient With His Decree?

I’m not sure that’s an equal comparison. Longsuffering means having or showing patience in spite of troubles, especially those caused by other people. God has already decided the time of the second coming and didn’t need input from anyone else.

Is God Patient With His Decree?

Right. It doesn’t make sense that he’d be longsuffering with what is set in stone.

The Next Pope Has Been Elected

From what I’ve read, he’s viewed as a centrist, progressive on social issues, conservative on church issues and rejects the ordination of women. I’m surprised they didn’t elect a Francis clone, but they probably realized that woke-ism is a losing proposition.

The Next Pope Has Been Elected

Robert Francis Prevost will be the first American Pope in history. What are your thoughts?

Is God Patient With His Decree?

I still don’t see the logic in it. If He has already decreed the events in time, there’s no reason for Him to be patient since He already knows in advance what’s going to happen.

Is God Patient With His Decree?

I would say He has been patient with me, giving me many opportunities to repent. It wouldn’t make sense that He’d be patient with me if I was created as a vessel of wrath before I was born with absolutely no opportunity to repent ever.

Is God Patient With His Decree?

There is no dispute that He has the right to make known the riches of His glory. If the vessels of mercy are a part of His decree, how is it that He is patient with them?

    ESV 2025 - Change notes

I finally had a chance to go over the notes and I have to say, most of these are welcome changes. I'm glad they're changing course on Genesis 13:6 and having it more in line with most other popular translations (contrary for instead of contrary to your husband.) I also like how they are leaving...

    Acts 13:48 and Election

Primary and secondary causes is a philosophical idea. Nowhere in scripture are we given any examples of God operating like that.
