    Yes, false doctrine started very eary and continues to this day. But that's not the issue. The issue is, why should a doctrine not found for over a millenium and a half of the church's existence have any claim to veracity?

    I'm saying the stream is purest at its source, and the further you get away from the source, the muddier things get. I don't trust a doctrine that came into being more than a millennium and a half after the founding of the church.
