    What about God the Son?

Is it really that painful of a question?

While Jesus was saying these things, one of the women in the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, “Blessed is the womb that carried You, and the breasts at which You nursed!” But He said, “On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God and follow it” [Luke 11:27-29].

First of all - we do not refer to Mary as the "Blessed Virgin" because she is no longer a virgin as she had other children. She was a sinner just like every other human.

No. Mary is the biological mother of Jesus. John 1:1 tells us "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God". Mary was not present "in the beginning".

I take issue with it because it's misleading. Mary is not the mother of Christ's divine nature, but only His human nature.

I've had this discussion with Catholic friends, and it is a serious topic. It comes down to a lack of understanding of the Hypostatic Union of the two natures of Christ. This short article from CARM gives a good summary - Hypostatic Union.

No one is the mother of a nature, but a person. In Mary’s case, she was mother of a Divine Person, thus she is Mother of God.
