Evening all:

I am one tired Granny with some tired grandsons!

The fishing derby did not go too well. The skeet shooters were scaring all the fish and no one caught very many.

Brent caught two. One was a 19 1/2 inch Catfish and the other was a 7 inch Crappie!

Oh well, the boys had fun and we came home with free T-shirts, free hot dogs, free Cokes, and a free whoopie cushion.

    Time for showers and bed!

    Pleasant dreams all!

Debby, I know how to make some great trees if you need any.

Sue, did you throw the fish back? We never keep any we catch. I don't trust the water. LOLOL

Well boys and girls, I am NOT looking forward to tomorrow! S/S starts at 9:00 and the couple who are to work Extended Session need me to stay for a portion of the church service since the wife sings in the choir. Well.... it's a 2 hour, Give Us the Money, church service so I'm guessing I'll end up with the 4 year olds for several hours. Next Sunday is MY week to work Extended Session. I've asked to be removed from rotation. I'm not getting to attend church service much at all and we have over 1,200 church members!

We accomplished a LOT today but want to finish the backyard tomorrow and I need to straighten up the rec room from the little ones on Friday. The two new boys will go back to bed on the queen sized sofa bed there and will also nap down there. They'll be here at 6:15 starting Monday but MacKenzie and Brayden won't come until 10:15. Ty is 'off' and Max will come after school only through Friday and then I'm finished with him. I am not picking up anymore!!!

Sleep well all and peaceful dreams!

    Diane

Forgive the NLT translation but I got this in a devotional today and thought it was great.

James 3:3 We can make a large horse turn around and go wherever we want by means of a small bit in its mouth. 4 And a tiny rudder makes a huge ship turn wherever the pilot wants it to go, even though the winds are strong. 5 So also, the tongue is a small thing, but what enormous damage it can do. A tiny spark can set a great forest on fire. 6 And the tongue is a flame of fire. It is full of wickedness that can ruin your whole life. It can turn the entire course of your life into a blazing flame of destruction, for it is set on fire by hell itself. 7 People can tame all kinds of animals and birds and reptiles and fish, 8 but no one can tame the tongue. It is an uncontrollable evil, full of deadly poison. 9 Sometimes it praises our Lord and Father, and sometimes it breaks out into curses against those who have been made in the image of God. 10 And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth. Surely, my brothers and sisters, this is not right! 11 Does a spring of water bubble out with both fresh water and bitter water? 12 Can you pick olives from a fig tree or figs from a grapevine? No, and you can't draw fresh water from a salty pool.

When we’re little we’re taught things like “Sticks and stones can break my bones, but words will never hurt me,” as an attempt for us to learn not to have our feelings hurt or make a big deal out of stuff that other kids say to us. However, the real truth is that those words that others say really CAN and DO hurt us. We need to be SO careful about what we say to others.

Words are really a lot more “tangible” than we give them credit for. We need remember that words are “THINGS” – meaning that words, once spoken, are like an object that we have just created that can’t be “unmade.” Another analogy is for us to think of everyone as carrying around stone tablets that are constantly read and re-read by their spirits. As soon as we speak something to someone, the words are engraved on the tablets, and read and re-read by their spirits. They can’t be taken back and will forever be a part of that person. Do we say things without thinking first? Do we make remarks and comments out-of-hand, and think that it really doesn’t matter? Do we say things under the guise of “kidding” that are really hurtful? Do we need to ask God to tame our tongues? I would guess that all of us do.

Let’s pray for one another today that we each might seek God’s help in taming our tongues and guiding us in the words we speak to others.

    Morning all:

It's a cool 54 here this morning and there is fog all across the area. Looks eerie, but should burn off quickly after the sun comes up.

Yesterday Vivian and I push mowed a part of the lawn in front. There was just no way to do the back and sides of the house. Vivian was getting to be beet red, and I was hacking and coughing. Gotta get those two riding mowers fixed, but especially the newer one. The old Snapper's parts are hard to find.

Tomorrow night (Monday) is Vision Meeting for the church....there's a lot on the agenda. I'm hoping it's not too late since Viv has to be up at 1:45 or 2:00 am. Please pray all goes smoothly (it usually does, but, sometimes joking and cutting up makes the meeting unusually long).

    Have a great day, all.

I have two Snapper riders, too, T!!!( [IMG] [IMG] ) One is what I consider an Antique----around 30 years old---I know for a fact that it has had over 8 engines installed over time---and still going strong!! I've replaced other "odd and end" things---mostly bearings for the rear axle hubs and clutch drive!

What kind of part are you looking for??

    Good morning all:

My guests are all still sleeping, so I thought I'd stop by here for a minute.

Speaking of riding lawnmowers... I have one on lay-away for Dale, for Father's Day. He has never had one and he will be VERY surprised! I am buying it with my 'paper' and 'crossing' money.

With an acre, we could sure use a riding mower but we certainly can't afford one and our yard is steep in many places. It's very hard to cut.

I cannot believe Sunday School starts in less than an hour. We won't have many children at all. We never do when it starts extra early. Gosh, even when it starts at 9:45, I'll have kids dragging in at 10:10! Praise the Lord, it's so pretty that I can take them on the playground for some of the HOURS.

Going to finish up the backyard today and then vacuum. I have no idea what to expect with the two boys tomorrow but figure they'll be on their best behavior for a few days. THEN it's going to start raining.

    Have a great day!

Hello all. Hope everyone has a great Lord's Day. We have a busy day here. Had 2 baptisms in the morning service, plus we honored our graduates, and held deacon nominations. Then this afternoon we have high school graduation plus the open houses to follow. Then back to church tonight to observe the Lord's Supper.

    </font>
Blackbird, the one I have is from the early 1960's, so it's definitely an antique...still has the original motor and everything on it. Grandpa took great care of it. Dad so of let it go to the "cats"..LOL ;) He gave it to me when he found out he was dying. The carb is the part I need...not just part, but the whole thing. I've thought about putting a newer motor on it, but I just can't see doing that to this fine old piece of history . [IMG]
I've checked some of the antique tractor and lawn implement places here, but nobody seems to have the parts I need. Snapper also wished me "good luck"...Wow...they were really interested in keeping me buying their products....NOT!

I think Gramps bought this around 1962-1966. It's a good mower and was running strong until dad let it go to pot.

Tony: Have you tried "Snapper" on the Internet for parts?

Have you just about given up, Tony?

It's a little overcast this afternoon. I took a nice nap. I was exhausted from S/S and Extended Session. My replacement arrived at 11:15 and I came home. Service had already been going on since 10:00!

Never fear, Blackbird is here!!! I can find your answer if you will give me some vital info, T!! First, lets talk about the Snapper!!! From the '60's, huh???

Never mind calling the fine folks over at Snapper on this one, Tone man!! They do not manufacture the engines that go on their "fine runnin' Jessie's" anyhow!!! Tell me what kind of engine it is??? Probably either a Briggs & Straton or maybe a Tecumseh. There isn't much to those carberators on either type engine---easy to work on---and hard to wear out!!!

Probably all you need is a good cleaning and you will be ready to go---over a period of time if gasoline has a chance to "sit" in the carb bowl and in the narrow chambers it will "varnish" on you---they make stuff at Wally world that will wipe that varnish off the face of the Earth!!!

Find the seriel # for the engine on the engine cover----usually stamped into the metal caseing---and take it to whatever lawnmower shop there that handles that particular engine---and tell them you want a carburator kit----probably around $15.00----probably for a engine that old--they will have to order from the company-----I wish I were there to look at the mower---I'd even do the tune up on that carb---won't cost you a dime!! Let me know if I can help!!

We had a Snapper pack n sac for years and had to rebuild the carburetor over and over. No biggie. Jim had rebuilt his step father's old Mercedes during summer vacation in high school so a lawn mower was a breeze. Ride that machine on down here Tony, and Jim'll help you!

[IMG] </font>
It has become obvious that the "women folk" are allowing the "T" man to be led astray---completely ignorin' Blackbird and his ingenious super duper instructions-----"T"---the BB ladies are makin' simple mower repairs look like tryin' to land a Boeing 747 on an airstrip obviously intended for an average Mississippi Delta cropduster!!!!!! Thanks, blackbird....I took it to the "Snapper" dealer here, and they just shook their head, patted me on the back and said "Hmmm, boy....you've got something even WE can't get the parts for". Contacted Snapper directly and they were wishing me well in my quest for parts....I did see on that was about as old as Gramps old one, but the carbs didn't match. Think there was five years difference or something to that order. That one needed a carb. also. That's why the owner was selling it. I think Storey's Antique Tractor museum and parts here bought it and he's looking for the parts. I'll keep ya'll informed, though.

    Well now...Morning all:

Was a long day yesterday. Got up at 4...something A.M. SS wasn't until 10 AM. Couldn't breath for some odd reason. Went to SS where someone told me I looked like death warmed over....bloodshot eyes, etc. But, hey, I WAS there! ;) I had to assure them I hadn't been on an all night drunk....

The morning sermon was pretty good. Preacher preached on Deborah! Think some of the guys got a little uncomfortable...don't know why, but they seemed a little on edge.

Our pastor had to go last night to Jackson, TN to pick up his daughter from one of the SBC schools, so the head deacon did the Bible study last night. It last a whole 30 minutes and then we had a great time of fellowship just sitting in the pews and talking about VBS, the upcoming 5th Sunday sing & Fellowship meal. It was great just to get to fellowship for a while. Tonight will be more of the same in our Vision meeting and fellowship pot-luck.

Hope everyone has a blessed day! [IMG]

    Get the picture, readers!!!

Blackbird is in the control tower watchin' in dismay as his buddy---"T" is at 1500 feet flyin' at 650 mph in the vintage F-4 Phantom jet on loan from the Vietnam War memorial---"T" was in the cockpit of the warbird "beauty" just "playin' around"---not really realizin' that the battery cables were still connected to the glorious Pratt & Whitney turbojet engine---when he pushed the starter switch by mistake---and before "T's" wife could even "think"----"T" went screamin' down the museum's parkin' lot and into oncomin' rushhour traffic on downtown New Orleans' busy, busy I-10 expressway!!! 3000 pounds of thrust---plus "T's" quick experience at his home's Nintindo Joystick---spelled relief for thousands of disgruntled drivers headed home to New Orleans' Westbank and North Shore!!!

Blackbird picks up a faster than usual "blip" on his radar screen at the Louis Armstrong Airport over in Kenner comin' from an unusal direction not normally routed for safe, safe landings on the three mile long runway at the International Airport!!! Blackbird knew it had to be that blessed F-4 at the museum over near the Mississippi River "Riverwalk"----he has tinkered with those controls before---but his wife was with him at the moment and he dared not himself to even remotely think about "thumbin'" the Phantom's starter button!!!!!!

Blackbird will now attempt to "coach" his buddy to the airport-----makein' sure first of all that the Phantom's Landin' gear is in the down position-----the concrete runway is fresh poured just last week and Blackbird is under strick orders not to mess the "pour" up---being as to how concrete is at an all time high $$$$ value!!! Blackbird's "Pet Peeve" is black spots all over the fresh whiteness of runway concrete!!!

"Phantom flier---this is NO International control tower! Over??"

Give me the description of the carburator part you despartely need!!!!

    Good morning all:

Tony, I think Blackbird may have the part you're looking for... ;)

It is 55º here and will be sunny and 75º by this afternoon.

I have some errands to run, after the corner, this morning and then do laundry. I will be able to hang the clothes outside! Yippee!

I am putting a roast in the crockpot. I don't usually feel like cooking on the stove on laundry day - which consists of washing, hanging out, bringing in, folding, AND ironing...

    Cruising,
