Debby, I know how to make some great trees if you need any.
Sue, did you throw the fish back? We never keep any we catch. I don't trust the water. LOLOL
Well boys and girls, I am NOT looking forward to tomorrow! S/S starts at 9:00 and the couple who are to work Extended Session need me to stay for a portion of the church service since the wife sings in the choir. Well.... it's a 2 hour, Give Us the Money, church service so I'm guessing I'll end up with the 4 year olds for several hours. Next Sunday is MY week to work Extended Session. I've asked to be removed from rotation. I'm not getting to attend church service much at all and we have over 1,200 church members!
We accomplished a LOT today but want to finish the backyard tomorrow and I need to straighten up the rec room from the little ones on Friday. The two new boys will go back to bed on the queen sized sofa bed there and will also nap down there. They'll be here at 6:15 starting Monday but MacKenzie and Brayden won't come until 10:15. Ty is 'off' and Max will come after school only through Friday and then I'm finished with him. I am not picking up anymore!!!
Sleep well all and peaceful dreams!
Diane
Forgive the NLT translation but I got this in a devotional today and thought it was great.
James 3:3 We can make a large horse turn around and go wherever we want by means of a small bit in its mouth. 4 And a tiny rudder makes a huge ship turn wherever the pilot wants it to go, even though the winds are strong. 5 So also, the tongue is a small thing, but what enormous damage it can do. A tiny spark can set a great forest on fire. 6 And the tongue is a flame of fire. It is full of wickedness that can ruin your whole life. It can turn the entire course of your life into a blazing flame of destruction, for it is set on fire by hell itself. 7 People can tame all kinds of animals and birds and reptiles and fish, 8 but no one can tame the tongue. It is an uncontrollable evil, full of deadly poison. 9 Sometimes it praises our Lord and Father, and sometimes it breaks out into curses against those who have been made in the image of God. 10 And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth. Surely, my brothers and sisters, this is not right! 11 Does a spring of water bubble out with both fresh water and bitter water? 12 Can you pick olives from a fig tree or figs from a grapevine? No, and you can't draw fresh water from a salty pool.
When we’re little we’re taught things like “Sticks and stones can break my bones, but words will never hurt me,” as an attempt for us to learn not to have our feelings hurt or make a big deal out of stuff that other kids say to us. However, the real truth is that those words that others say really CAN and DO hurt us. We need to be SO careful about what we say to others.
Words are really a lot more “tangible” than we give them credit for. We need remember that words are “THINGS” – meaning that words, once spoken, are like an object that we have just created that can’t be “unmade.” Another analogy is for us to think of everyone as carrying around stone tablets that are constantly read and re-read by their spirits. As soon as we speak something to someone, the words are engraved on the tablets, and read and re-read by their spirits. They can’t be taken back and will forever be a part of that person. Do we say things without thinking first? Do we make remarks and comments out-of-hand, and think that it really doesn’t matter? Do we say things under the guise of “kidding” that are really hurtful? Do we need to ask God to tame our tongues? I would guess that all of us do.
Let’s pray for one another today that we each might seek God’s help in taming our tongues and guiding us in the words we speak to others.
