Afternoon all:

FoG, that is wonderful news! I was down to a 48, but with the steroid injections in my back over the past six months, I'm back at a 52. Glad I kept my "fat" pants. I still have plenty of room in them, but, I usually wear mine a little larger so there's not a lot of pressure on my lower back. Hope you lose more and continue to feel great!

Gayla, any news yet?

Vivian called at lunch and said she had to work until 4pm. She wasn't very happy about it. But, at end of the quarter they always do this.

Our neighbor put up a flagpole near his driveway. It stands about 25-35 feet tall, and Old Glory is just a flappin' in the wind! I thought about doing that since it's legal out here.

We're supposed to be getting some rain this evening. I hope it's not significant. Viv's got to mow the lawn on Saturday. It shouldn't take too long as it hasn't grown up as tall as last time.

Is anyone else having trouble loggin in, getting things posted besides Karen and me? I double posted in the General Baptist Discussions because of the slowness and my browser being hijacked. It actually was a triple post!

At our house it the 3 root canals T is going to have to have. The first one will be next Wednesday.

And yes, yesterday was as normal as it gets at my house. Here's hoping it doesn't get any more normal!

I gotta ask: How's a 12 inch drill bit gonna help you get out your tree stumps?

The BB is a bit slow here too. I solved the problem by keeping two windows opens so I can post on one and let it do it's thing while I go read something else. But then I have DSL and have the luxury of doing that. I guess that wouldn't be possible with dial up?

Time to cook supper!

 

I posted once in another thread and had to answer myself an hour later.......I think we are all experiencing slow times in posting.

Well good evening everyone! It's a wonderful day! It's a beautiful day! It's a gorgeous day! I LOVE TODAY! I'll like it even better when it's over.

 

madre and I went and opened up the camp: swept out the dead flies, filled the chemical toilet, made the beds, etc. That used up about an hour. The rest of the time we spent walking through the woods, the swamp, over hill and dale. One of the apple trees dropped a large branch so we dragged that back and cut it up to add to the firewood. Deer, turkey, geese and bass in abundance. My buddy and I are going back tomorrow for a three day blast and cast adventure- turkey hunting in the mornings and fishing in the afternoon.

 

Turkey hunting? Bring a butterfly net and come on over, I have to stop or go around them on a very regular basis every morning! They don't seem worried at all about people.

 

Yeah, the nurse called about 1 1/5 hours after I left the message . . .
The PET Scan showed "continued uptake" (still a hot-spot) in the L4, but no change.

The tumor-marker was 23.7 in Dec
23.6 in Jam
30.6 in Feb and now 37.2 . . .
that's NOT the way we want that number to go!


But I feel good. Tired all the time,but I'm actually using the Gazelle that's sitting on the other side of the room, maybe that will help.
Gettin' shed of a few pounds wouldn't hurt and would probably help.

Sue, that's a bummer! Would homeowners insurance cover it? I know they will on some things, but not others. Varies from state to state.

It's a bit cooler this morning and some rain is starting to move into our area. Up where the plant is, Viv said it was already raining. Thank God it's the last day of the week and the end of the quarter. They've got her working all kinds of goofy hours. They might not work all the way up until 4 pm...sometimes they do and sometimes they don't finish out the day on the last day of the quarter.

Another jolly good sunny morning here. I look out at my plum tree and with all its blossoms and the sunshining on it there is the appearance of a flaming bush. I want to run out and get the message.

Sue, I get rid of stumps by drilling holes and pouring javex into the holes. Takes quite awhile, but it does rot the trunk.

Homeowners insurance! We cancelled ours 20 years ago when they got sticky wicket about heating with wood. We invested the usual premiums and to-day we manage what is covered. Just imagine how nutty it would be trying to get coverage for squirrel damage!!1

Welcome Sue..The faster way is to pour diesel fuel in the holes and set them afire...it will burn for three or four days...........not a good idea too close to a house.........

I refuse to be stumped!...*smile* Wife just gave me the "look" for saying that.

We are so fortunate to have health insurance.

Parenting sure has changed since my children were in school. I can look online and get e-mail notices about what each child is doing or not doing in school. Teachers will respond by e-mail.

Sue, In my opinion, Javex is a safe route to go. It is not harmful to people or the environment and it does the job eventually. You can't douse the fire once started and it will burn down deep inside the stump for days.

The chemical sold for this purpose is called "Brush kill" up here. I can't remember the brand name for it. It is restricted here because of its inherent dangers to the environment and to people who come in contact with it. It takes as long as the javex and costs around $80.00 per gallon.......that will buy a lot of Javex.

Wonder why I'm running out of tim-tams so fast

It's a much needed day off from classes, and the kids are at school, so I am ALONE today! How cool is that?
No class, great snacks, time alone, and Helen and her hubby are back! YAY! It makes life feel "right" again to have them home.

I do need to go downtown, but I'm thinking I just won't. What's the worst that could happen? I stay home and relax? OH NO!

Oh, here's my "event o' the day". You know there's always SOMETHING going on! So here's what happened.

I took two blankets to the dry cleaners over a month ago. They gave me a receipt to pick them up with. I kept it. I took it with me to go pick them up, but they didn't have my blankets. Not only that, but they were to call me when they came back, 3-5 days. It never happened.
Finally, they returned them last week, and charged me $40. These were not big blankets. One was a real blanket, like a twin bed size. The other was just a bed cover, queen size.
I paid them, and they refused to give me a receipt. I asked for one, and the lady said no. We don't give out receipts.

I knew at that point in time that something was wrong. I looked at the bed cover, and saw that there was no beading on the part I was looking at.

Now I just took it out of the bag, and ALL the beads are gone off of it.

So now I know why they were reluctant to give them back, and why they refused to give me a receipt.

I'm not going to say anything to them though. I figure they must have felt guilty because they didn't want to give them back. I'm by there occasionally, and I'll make it a point to smile and wave at her. MAY THE GUILT EAT HER ALIVE! MWAH HA HA HA!

But the bedspread still covers the bed, so it's ok, and now I can lay on top of it without getting poked by beads, so I guess that can be a good thing! AND I now know who NOT to take dry cleaning stuff to!
