Christ the risen Saviour, not potential Saviour !

The Calvinist can't accept Paul's words that "God is the Savior of all men." That would mean the atonement was" the satisfaction for the sins of the whole world," as John said, the Calvinist can't accept that either. It's said in the tense that God is the Savior of all who believe, there is...

    The Two "Christmas" Stories

I wasn't sure that he was doing that either. I was just pointing out the time frame between Luke and Matthews accounts.

    The Two "Christmas" Stories

I know it's hypothetical, but Joseph left Nazareth to go pay his taxes. Why would he be in a house in Bethlehem with a young Jesus when his home was in Nazareth?

"There is safety in believing the words of the KJV Bible." A powerful quote by our Board member, JD731.

There's no reason for this to be taken spiritually. We follow a different set of hermeneutics. No need to pursue it any further, we will never agree. but that's ok. Nothing we say or believe can change what the Lord has already determined.

    The Two "Christmas" Stories

The Scripture doesn't say they found Him in Bethlehem. The "Star of Bethlehem" that led them is in much controversy.

    The Two "Christmas" Stories

Do you think maybe it took a considerable amount of time for the wise men to find Christ, being that He was now in a house (maybe Nazareth) and not the stable where He was born.

    Are we "bent reeds?"

This reminds me of my Dad, saved at 75, that's a miracle in itself. The Church had some land that had grown up and Dad had a tractor and bush hog, so he asked the Pastor if he would like for it to be cleaned up. That was his part he was happy to do. He kept in looking good, and did other...

If God is Not Sovereign, Then There is No Grace

I may have been having one of my dizzy spells when I said that, BF. Never mind me, you go with what you believe.

"There is safety in believing the words of the KJV Bible." A powerful quote by our Board member, JD731.

You put me to work on that one. I knew I had read it somewhere but took a while to find it. Don't do Ol' Charlie like this, it's to much work. Rev. 2:25-27 "But that which ye have already hold fast till I come. And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give...

    Satisfaction Atonement

Well, you know how it is with us humans, we've had around 2000 years to mess it up. We have to wade through a swamp of false doctrine to find the truth, and then can't agree on the truth. It's a good thing for us that correct doctrine throughout the Scripture is not the requirement for our...

    Satisfaction Atonement

You see, easternstar, when God told Adam "you shall surly die" He meant it and couldn't go back on it. His Law states "the wages of sin is death" and Adam was told directly. Man had to die (spiritual death), but He sent another man to take our sins upon Him to pay the debt man owed to God...

    Satisfaction Atonement

I'm sorry you feel that way! The Scripture reeks of PSA, any other way is a violation of God's Law. God upheld His Law out of love for mankind, and His Christ willingly gave up His life to secure life for us.

    Satisfaction Atonement

Is He a monster God in that He allowed Christ to suffer in our place and it pleased Him? Or is He pleased with the results of what Christ achieved for man to live?
  17. C

    Satisfaction Atonement

God allowed Christ to be our substitute to take our place and that meant death. Your tone is revealing in that you believe God did something against His will, when actuality "it pleased God to bruise Him."
  18. C

    Satisfaction Atonement

How could it be any other theory than PSA considering Paul said He was made a curse for us? The penalty on the curse of the Law was the wrath of God on man for his sin, which meant death. "The wages of sin is death." Christ has never sinned, so He was not bound to the Law of Sin and Death as...

    Women Pastors?

I hope he wasn't relying on that experience and quote to save him on judgment day.

If God is Not Sovereign, Then There is No Grace

God provides for the conversion. Just as He provided a sacrifice for Abraham (a ram caught in the brush) when God tested his faith in sacrificing his son (sounds familiar doesn't it). The test was not for God, He knew what Abraham would do, as He knows what we will do. Even for those who...
