    Study 2 Thessalonians 2:13

@Van said it in post #123 of his thread “when were we chosen” Peace to you

    2 Thessalonians 2:13…

No, “from” does not mean anytime after the beginning. It means… when there was a beginning… that is when we were chosen for salvation. Peace to you

    Is this a war crime

First of all, I’m sure nobody said, “kill the survivors”. More likely the order was to destroy the boat they just happened to be clinging to, so all those illegal drugs would be completely destroyed. Peace to you

    2 Thessalonians 2:13…

Oh sweet!! Fireplace, eggnog, hot coffee!!! Music! You must be listening to some Barry Manilow!

    2 Thessalonians 2:13…

That is part of the explanation Paul gives in 2 Thessalonians 2:13-14 of how salvation occurs. We are chosen from the beginning for salvation. Then, God Holy Spirit sets us apart which leads to faith in the truth which is a reference to the gospel of Jesus Christ. So, no, I’m not mistaken but...

Well, I would never get between a man and hot coffee. Sounds quite nice. Peace to you

    2 Thessalonians 2:13…

And yet you are still posting toward me? And yes, you are being rude and arrogant and condescending, but those are issues you need to take up with God. :) Peace to you

    2 Thessalonians 2:13…

Ok, I do understand what you are saying, but the context of 2 Thessalonians 2:13 does not support the idea of a sanctification “plan” being spoken of. Peace to you

    2 Thessalonians 2:13…

No, if I had accomplished my “mission” you would look at the passage with an open mind and attempt to understand it in the context in which it was written. Peace to you

    2 Thessalonians 2:13…

It depends on the context in which it was written, like every other passage. Sorry you can’t comprehend that, buts that’s a problem you have to come to terms with on your own. Peace to you

    2 Thessalonians 2:13…

God didn’t make the statements, you did. I don’t have a problem understanding the passage. You have decided to be snarky instead of engaging in a thoughtful discussion. Therefore, you should simply disengage from this thread and only post where others with like minds will pat you on the back...

    2 Thessalonians 2:13…

The Greek word “sanctify” means “set apart.” The word “holy” also means set apart. You are using it as “purify”, which is not the context of 2 Thessalonians 2:13. Peace to you

    2 Thessalonians 2:13…

You claimed “Calvinism” had been blown out of the water centuries ago. I asked you when that happened and who did the blowing. You asked me to read the 2 Thessalonians 2:13 passage the way you understand it. I cannot do that, because that is not what the passage says. I am obligated to read...

    2 Thessalonians 2:13…

You are misunderstanding the word “sanctify”. It literally means to be set apart. In the context of 2 Thessalonians 2:13, Paul is explaining how the salvation occurs, not how the choosing occurs. We are sanctified (set apart) by God Holy Spirit which leads to faith in the truth. Peace to you

    2 Thessalonians 2:13…

I will always read it the way Paul intended it to be read, in the context in which it was written. I am always open to being convinced by scripture. I understood the doctrines of grace long before I ever heard of John Calvin or Calvinism, so I reject your attempted slur and urge you to keep...

    2 Thessalonians 2:13…

Paul is teaching the individuals are predestined, not that the “plan” was predestined. Peace to you

    2 Thessalonians 2:13…

I certainly have never heard the doctrines of grace were “blown out of the water” many centuries ago. Perhaps you could enlighten me about when that happened and who did the blowing? I do know what scripture very clearly teaches about the doctrines of grace and I will always believe scripture...

    2 Thessalonians 2:13…

That may be true, but that is not what 2 Thessalonians 2 says. You reading into the passage what you want it to say. I do appreciate you addressing the passage with honest discussion. We will just disagree. Peace to you

    2 Thessalonians 2:13…

You missing crucial elements in the passage. I agree Paul is speaking to believers. That changes nothing about what is taught. According to Paul, these believers were chosen from the beginning for salvation. That is a complete thought. The passage does not say, as you maintain, that God...
