Of course he did. The context makes it clear that all Christians will have a new resurrection body. The context of the Olivet Discourse makes it clear that only a limited amount of people would see the events described. It's not possible for everyone to see an event. Even your "futurist"...

    Make believe Eschatology

To repeat myself, yes, these events have all happened. I've proven it over and over, but you close your eyes to the evidence. Talk about opinion and guesswork, you don't have a shred of evidence, so you repeat the conjecture of "prophecy pundits". The Beast was Nero / the Roman Empire. The...

Thank you, that looks like a good read. I've just added it to my Amazon Wish List. (Maybe my wife will take the hint.)

    Make believe Eschatology

You say "only a few", I say "all", then you say "only a few", and I say "all" ad infinitum. While Antiochus IV Epiphanes was a shadow of the AOD, Daniel's prophecy pointed to the actual Abomination of Desolation of AD 70. Agreed, there are many spirits that deceive many Christians...

    Make believe Eschatology

Different context. In 1 Corinthians, this passage clearly indicates all believers will be changed. However, not all believers would see the events described in the Olivet Discourse. Only those who were alive when those events came to pass saw it.

I really appreciate how civil you are as we discuss our different views. Too many of our brothers and sisters in Christ can get pretty ugly over different viewpoints. My views are just that - my views. My wife has assured me that I can be (and often have been) wrong. Regarding failing to...

    Make believe Eschatology

Christians have been saying "we see prophecy unfolding before our eyes" ever since Israel became a nation again in 1948. This is simply not true, as the Olivet Discourse prophecies are long since fulfilled. Jesus wasn't talking about the READER of the Olivet Discourse narrative, but the...

    Make believe Eschatology

@Iconoclast, I hope you don't mind if I jump in on this. As we know, beginning with verse 4, Jesus speaks of tribulation. In verse 15, He points back to Daniel's prophecy about the abomination of desolation. The AOD was when the Roman Army desecrated the Temple. In His warning, Jesus tells...

    Make believe Eschatology

Until you realize that prophecies are filled with symbolic language, I will continue to debate this topic with you (and other futurists). I can't imagine why that wouldn't work "in the real world". Jesus used metaphors and similes quite frequently. For instance, was He really a door? Is the...

    Make believe Eschatology

Why would Jesus change the answer from a near fulfillment (vs. 1-2) to a far future fulfillment? Nothing in the Olivet Discourse even hints that He made such a change. That would only confuse His disciples, and even the idea that He did change the time frame has confused a great many...

First, I appreciate your thoughtful and civil reply, Brother. Where are the "taller", "be from the people", "bum arm" and "blind right eye" verses? Which translation? Zechariah 11's prophecy of the desolation of Israel was fulfilled in the AD 70 destruction of Jerusalem. Yes, but not the...

    Make believe Eschatology

Have you ever noticed that Daniel is told to seal up the vision and the prophecy (because it was a long way off), but in Revelation 22:10, John was told not to seal up the words of the prophecy - because the time is near. There is plenty of evidence that Revelation was probably written in the...

    Make believe Eschatology

How do you know He didn't switch between literal and symbolic language? Especially since Jesus was quoting a passage from Daniel that had symbolic meaning. You are stuck on the notion that this is about future worldwide events, so you will never see their fulfillment. I maintain these were...

    Make believe Eschatology

Full preterism views Jesus having literally come in AD 70. Partial preterism views this to be a "coming in judgment" in the same way that God "came in judgment" many times in the Old Testament. I must disagree, Brother. It's the same in Revelation 1:7. While one translation is to literally...

I couldn't have said it better, Brother.

    Make believe Eschatology

Granted, there can be only one "2nd appearing of Christ". How do we reconcile the Preterist view Matthew 24:29-31 with the made up "future fulfillment" view? As I mentioned in the "Each Eschatological View" thread, verse 30 says "the sign of the Son of Man will appear". Jesus did not say that...

You are looking for a literal fulfillment of symbolic language. The same type of symbolic language is used throughout the Bible. Examples include Jeremiah 4:11-29, Isaiah 13:10-13, Isaiah 34:3-5, Ezekiel 32:2-8, Joel 2:1-11, Acts 2:17-21, and many more. First Century Jews were familiar with...

To the contrary, Brother, I suggest it's most of the "futurist" views that are make believe. The only part that any "futurist" interpretation has correct is the future 2nd Coming of Christ. Scriptural support for futurist views is based on misinterpretations of the Bible, and largely on...

    Each Eschatological view.

I'll try to remember, but the Thanksgiving holiday will have me pretty busy until next week. I must complement you on a very pleasant and civil conversation, despite our different views. On that note, here's wishing a Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

    Each Eschatological view.

You fail to understand that the Great Tribulation was a localized event, not a worldwide event. I don't read stuff from Full Preterists like Preston, but I completely trust Gentry, DeMar, et al precisely because they stick to a proper interpretation of Scripture. Like so many of our...
