    Airs

I couldn't agree more....it is a major obstacle for the church IMO.....I am FULL of "airs". My main concern often involves putting on those airs in front of the Pastoral staff because....if they know I'm imperfect, I can't serve....If they know I'm imperfect, they won't let me teach Sunday...

Is the Church local, universal or both?

Yes... a good source Icon. As far as I can tell, I agree with it completely. It's very well written too.

Is the Church local, universal or both?

:wavey:agreed, except I would submit it matters somewhat whether the Church was formed at Pentecost or not. I maintain, as you do, that it was formed during Christ's earthly ministry. (Hence, why, IMO he had to be Baptized) Otherwise, I have no idea why Christ found Baptism needful...

Is the Church local, universal or both?

Tom covers it in part here:  In short...a mistaken view of the Church can easily, and I believe it has opened the door to error creeping in to the local Church: consider: 1Ti 3:15 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of...

What does it mean to say God is "Good"?

:thumbs:correct...but his "goodness" will be revealed in his conduct. We know his character, because we know his conduct.:wavey: He has shown us who he is, and he has defined that as "goodness" he could not subsequently act completely fiendishly, and then also be known as "Good"...the word...

What does it mean to say God is "Good"?

No, I am not saying that, nor is it the logical conclusion of my argument. Your statement is a non-sequitor. God and his character are the very definition of what "Good" is. I do not believe that "Goodness" is a property that exists abstractly. I do not believe in the existence of abstract...

What does it mean to say God is "Good"?

Miss-type....I mean to say I am NOT an Open-Theist.

What does it mean to say God is "Good"?

True. But, you will notice there are limits to these attributes, God cannot be self-contradictory... and still be called "logical". God could not be non-sensical and still be rightly called "logical". Similarly, God could not, for instance, torture small infants for mere sadistic pleasure and...

What does it mean to say God is "Good"?

On the thread about Ravi Zacharias and Sovereignty, Luke began discussing with various people what the definition of "Goodness" is: I felt that discussion meritted further vetting:

    Ravi Zacharius on Sovereignty

I think this discussion deserves a thread of its own: I'll create one. http://www.baptistboard.com/showthread.php?p=1970516#post1970516

    Ravi Zacharius on Sovereignty

According to the Mosaic law.... the killing of an unborn child results in the death penalty (even an in-voluntary one) Exd 21:22 ¶ If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart [from her], and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman's...

    Ravi Zacharius on Sovereignty

Agreed. I appreciate Luke's posts. I have much to work on too. But people call him a "troll" when he is Anything but. Certainly, he may have to learn some discernment about the time to be direct and the time it would be more constructive to be gentler in his approach. (I do too). But his...

    Is Rapture the correct term?

Those questions have followed me for years, but, if it's of any help I would say these things: 1.) I think we sometimes make too much of the verse which says "It is appointed unto man once to die... The point of the passage (Hebrews 9:25-28) is to explain why Christ's sacrifice was "once and...

How does God get His tasks accomplished on earth?

    Agreed.... the answer is "yes"

Are all already condemned by God, or ONLY after rejecting Christ?

True, absolutely true. Scripture explaining clear Scripture alone. God uses the Scriptures to say EXACTLY what he wanted to say. I Quote and edit you for the sake of making the point. IF the Scriptures themselves are the standard by which we understand all other Scripture, and, IF the...

Are all already condemned by God, or ONLY after rejecting Christ?

No one...has taken inarguable Scriptural truth and demonstrated that all of man-kind are "sinners" and wicked and "guilty" at (and only by) virtue of their conception. This is NOT Scriptural...and there is no level of rightly divided Scripture which teaches as much. It is a mere tradition of...
