This is right. I used to make experimental, abstract, electronic “noise music”. But if it was too loud, it was muddy. You don’t want all the sounds blurring into each other or one sound overwhelming the others. My wife and I, when we listened to the National Christian Choir programs on WBNH...

Men in our Church meet to discuss anything concerning the Scripture,

Jesus prayed for unity, that we believers would all be one, even as He and the Father are one. What must Jesus think when He sees his flock arguing and insulting each other over such issues as which Bible version to use? I prefer the King James Version, but I also enjoy reading the NIV, ESV...

Your Service for Sunday Evening: 8 Feb 2026

What an awkward, sleazy time it must be when the church members watch the SuperBowl half time show!

    Why don't Baptists wear these

I have begun to like liturgical garments and symbolic sashes and choir robes. They signify that the person wearing them has a special function in the house of God. Not exalted above the congregation, but also not some random casual person off the street. I used to think a suit and tie were...

    Culture and Worship

This discussion is relevant to the original post, but could be a separate topic. I think Christian theology is based primarily on a blend of the Bible and Greek Platonic philosophy, with some Stoic principles. The concept of logos is an example of this as early as the gospel of John. Often...

    The New Fundamentals?

@Wesley Briggman Titus 1:16 They profess to know God, but in works they deny Him, being abominable, disobedient, and disqualified for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:13 But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. Jude 1:4 For certain men have crept...

    The New Fundamentals?

New Fundamentals per Ascetic X: 1. Jesus remains eternally the exclusive, only way to God and Heaven, but He bids all without exception, of every race, nationality, and creed, to come to Him. 2. Christianity warmly welcomes people of all gender ideologies, sexual orientation, and romantic...

    Fear God?

Yes, it is a matter of semantics. We are on the same wavelength. Since “fear hath torment”, I prefer to say we are extremely concerned about, and devoted to, pleasing and not offending God. We must keep perfecting holiness in the intense reverence and supremely respectful awe of God.

Are many here going to SBC churches then?

I was a member of a Southern Baptist Church, where I met my wife, but I am not attending it now. I am currently unable to attend any church, but the last one I went to was an independent Bible church.

Walter, I am so glad that your wife is cancer free. My beloved beautiful godly wife died August 5, 2024 after battling cancer for 6 years. We were married 21 years and were basically each other’s only companions. My life is extremely bleak and disoriented now. Bless you and your wife. I will...

    Automatic Salvation?

This definitely sounds like “automatic salvation”. First John, chapter 2 22 And who is a liar? Anyone who says that Jesus is not the Christ. Anyone who denies the Father and the Son is an antichrist. 23 Anyone who denies the Son doesn’t have the Father, either. But anyone who acknowledges...

    Go out in Jesus Name

Protestants who condemn any public display of spirituality, like crossing yourself, ash crosses on forehead, or wearing cross necklaces — they typically applaud football players and coaches who kneel and pray publicly on the football field at the end of a game. They also may wear tee shirts or...

    Automatic Salvation?

Can it be shown in the New Testament when a person believed in Jesus Christ, but their faith was rejected because not deep or sincere enough? We must believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God, not just agree that He exists. Automatic salvation indicates God performing what He has promised...

    Risen With Christ

I love this post. I have recently been startled into realizing how much worldliness had invaded my heart. I confronted the way my Christianity was mostly head knowledge of scripture, without much practical application. I questioned myself about how often I actually turned the other cheek when...

    Consigned under Disobedience

Yes, and the Bible does explain what humbleness consists of, crucifying the flesh, putting others first, washing their feet, etc., so we can make ourselves humble by obeying these instructions.

The four beasts are repeating a praise phrase, but are also giving glory and honor and thanks in addition. The four and twenty elders say a praise statement: “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and...

    Consigned under Disobedience

I have been humbled a lot recently. I am not sure if I can ever humble myself. Humbleness, the suppression of ego and pridefulness, seems to be a virtue that God performs upon us. I feel humble when tragedy or affliction strikes, making me see how feeble I am in the flesh and how much I need...

    Culture and Worship

The praise choruses or 7-11 songs I am familiar with are far more repetitious than Psalm 136. Praise choruses repeat the same phrase over and over again, not just the second part. Thus “7 words 11 times”. Contrary to what you say, the Psalms are not all simple or repetitive. Hymns were...

    Fear God?

Fear of God is, in my understanding, an intense reverence, not a state of being frightened, which would negate the truth that God is love. To say we should fear losing the friendship or love of God also seems an attitude based on an improper understanding of God’s relationship to us. We should...
