Is Solomon in Hell or Heaven Today?

I disagree. You are making far too much out of a single mention of " Abraham's bosom" in a parable which makes no comment as to what that bosom represents.

Textus Receptus vs. the Majority Text?

The Received Text and the Majority Text are in substantial agreement with one another, except, as has been said, in the Book of Revelation. However, thereare a few other differences: most famously the so-called 'Johannine Comma' - 1 John 5:7-8, which survives in only a tiny number of Greek...

    Fear God?

The fear of the Lord is not only an O.T. thing. It is described in positive terms in the N.T. also: Acts 9:31. 'Then the churches throughout all Judea, Galilee and Samaria had peace and were edified. And waliking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, they were...

    Thoughts on Justification

I don't think it is quite right to speak of God's "ability" to do something (c.f. Genesis 18:14), but I've said before on this forum that the Bible says that there are two things God cannot do. He cannot lie (Titus 1:2) and He cannot deny Himself (2 Timothy 2:13). I think the second of these...

    Thoughts on Justification

I'm glad to see that you now believe in particular atonement.

    Thoughts on Justification

@Silverhair, Please post your stuff Cal/Arm section, so that I can ignore it.

    Thoughts on Justification

Perhaps we are talking at cross purposes. I cannot see how anyone can be justified by faith if he is justified before he believes. That is my problem with justification from eternity. I most certainly believe in justification by the blood of Christ, and I think you will find it in my O.P.

    Thoughts on Justification

Roman Catholics misunderstand them, just the same as you do. There are several verses in my previous posts that answer your points, such as they are. So read them again, and then quote them, explaining why you don't like them. Otherwise, shut up and leave me alone.

 See my posts #9 and #14.

    Thoughts on Justification

No. Otherwise it gives the lie to Romans 5:1. We must hold to the whole of Scripture and not cherry-pick the verses we like best, or we shall be as bad as @Silverhair.

    Thoughts on Justification

The answer is still not because we believe. The answer is God's grace and mercy, and the active and passive obedience of Christ. Perhaps you have not read John 3:16 recently. First, God loves the world in a certain way; the result of that is that He gives His only begotten Son to suffer and...

    Thoughts on Justification

I do not believe so. The elect are chosen for salvtion before the foundation of the world, but they are justified when they believe. As I have said, justification is the legal pronouncement of God the judge that a sinner is justified. And as I pointed out in the O.P., sinners are justified by...

    Thoughts on Justification

Actually, no. According to Titus 3:4-7, the prime cause of our justification is God's kindness and love (v.4) and His mercy (v.5). In v.7, we are justified 'by His grace,' that is, by His undeserved favour. Faith is not mentioned at all in that particular segment of Scripture, though in...

    Faith # 5

The fact is that Greek experts and seminarians are divided on this verse, and probably will be until our Lord returns. The sad thing is that the commentators seem to be split down party lines. It is true that touto ['that'] is in the neuter, while pistis ['faith'] is feminine. But charis...

    Who is a Calvinist?

It is probably not going to be possible for me to answer all your points within the timescale available. I have a life outside of this thread and a busy day in front of me. However, you may start another thread on the same subject if you wish to and repeat your questions. I have to say that I...

    Who is a Calvinist?

You will understand that I don't know anything about you. It did not appear to me from your previous posts that you have studied Calvinism, so I thought a quotation from the 1689 Confession might be helpful. OK. Yes. No. She sinned of her own free will as the Bible tells us (Gen. 3:6)...

    Who is a Calvinist?

It isn't a problem for me, and it isn't a problem for Calvinists generally. I think you would do well to study Calvinism before you make adverse comments about it. Here is the 1689 Baptist Confession on Free Will. I offer it, not because I think it's infallible or anything like that, but to...

    Thoughts on Justification

It would be really worrying to have to be justified by your own works. Deut. 27:26. 'Cursed is the one who does not confirm all the words of this law.' All of them. See Gal. 3:10. James 2:10. 'For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all.'

    Thoughts on Justification

Gal. 2:16. 'Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus that we might be justified by faith in Christ, and not by the works of the law, for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified. Does it not...

    Who is a Calvinist?

Here, unfortunately, you show your ignorance once again. The Doctrines of Grace did not originate with Calvin, as I and others have stated many times. Obviously, they are found all over the Bible, which is all I care about, but let that pass for the moment. Look down at my signature at the...
