What do you say when you're baptizing someone?

I have a friend who was baptized in a Bible (believing) church and a Landmark Bap would not accept it -so he went across town to a SBC church!

What do you say when you're baptizing someone?

Which brings us to another question. You have an individual who wants to join your church. That tell you that they were immersed. When you ask them what church they were baptized in - they state - "Well, 5 years ago, Uncle Joe baptized me - but he is not a member of any church. We just...

What do you say when you're baptizing someone?

I'm sure they also believe only the local church as that authority - but the person doing the actual baptizing must be a a "baptized descendent" of John the Baptist!

How easy should it be for a Baptist church to accept a new member.

Yes, we do, but if a person comes for 3-4 months and takes communion - I would be talking to them about membership. Just as a church should review a potential member before extending the right hand of fellowship - a prospective member should check out the church before he joins

What do you say when you're baptizing someone?

NOTE: Bold indicates my emphasis: Then there are those who believe that the only person who is has the authority to baptized is someone who was baptized by a "baptized descendent" of John the Baptist! --- Think "The Trail of Blood" BTW - NO - I do not accepet that doctrine.

I had started a Baptist church in Germany. I was the first pastor (while I was in the Army) My goal was to get a full time pastor. There was an individual who had come to Germany to be a missionary to the Germans; in spite of the fact he did not know German, nor have sufficient financial...

How easy should it be for a Baptist church to accept a new member.

UP - I agree with your statement!s However, how many churches actually do that? Some are just so happy in getting new members - they immediately extend the right hand of fellowship

How easy should it be for a Baptist church to accept a new member.

I was only using KJO as one example -- But lets turn that around - if you had a candidate for membership and they insisted that only the KJV be used - that ALL other versions are perverted - would you want that person to be a member of our local church. The point I'm getting at is that to one...

How easy should it be for a Baptist church to accept a new member.

and how close does that "faith & practice" have to be" Would a KJO church accept a member from a non- KJO? Other "minor" doctrines?
