Christ the risen Saviour, not potential Saviour! 4

The question is not what a hypercalvinist thinks, its what does the word or phrase mean in context. For the KJV, but not the Nasb95. And the reason they are not is that it is referrant back to “propitiation for our sins”. The greek is not required to duplicate the noun again. The context is...

    Genesis 2:19

BTW I love the NET bible and it is one of the resources that helped me key in on this recent change in english translation.

    Genesis 2:19

I agree. You can still be young earth and use the present tense. The question is really why are translators doing this and is it appropriate?

    Genesis 2:19

This never used to be a debate, though. Additionally, rules of Hebrew have indicators for when you would use the pluperfect tense… and these are not met in Gen 2:19. As you point out, it does seem that the LSB and others have used theology to affect their translation, which I think is...

    Genesis 2:19

Just to add, why do you think the new translations are going with this reading?
  6. Psalty

    Genesis 2:19

Oh, I am not assuming conflict between 1 & 2, but the old earthers point to this to say so. Thanks for your post!

    Genesis 2:19

Hey there, was hoping to start a discussion on the verse Genesis 2:19. The pericope is 2:15-25 talking about the creation of Adam, Animals, then Eve. The NASB95, NET, and KJV render the verb “to form” as present tense. New translations like the LSB, ESV and NIV render the verb as past tense...

    Contact with God

Yeah, finding a church that feels like family is hard. When we found ours we stuck! I feel for you. Edit; finding one where God is moving on top of community can be hard also. Sometimes you have to be the one bringing vision of what it can be and lead people into it by example

Christ the risen Saviour, not potential Saviour! 4

Saying it to yourself also… lol. You dont really come here to persuade people do you? Youd actually have to engage in dialogue to do that.
  10. Psalty

Christ the risen Saviour, not potential Saviour! 4

No answer… no logic, no scripture… guilty of your own logic… …but Ill give you name calling and insults… thats what your beliefs are built on! Pure sand and cant stand!
  11. Psalty

Christ the risen Saviour, not potential Saviour! 4

Again, you eat your own argument. Cavinists believe that salvation is potential before God thought to create. No answer… run away again.
  12. Psalty

Christ the risen Saviour, not potential Saviour! 4

No answer, because you know that to answer shows your absolute failure of both the scriptures and logic. Classic BF. No answer. Full acceptance of the argument against you by your failure to address.
  13. Psalty

Christ the risen Saviour, not potential Saviour! 4

In Calvinism, before God thought of creating you, were you chosen? Or was there just potential for you to be created and chosen? If you answer that you were always chosen, and that God could not have done otherwise, you exalt Man and glorify him with Calvinism, the man-centric theology where...

Christ the risen Saviour, not potential Saviour! 4

Every thing is potential before it happens. That doesnt mean it wont happen. Youre stuck in the same mind loop as most calvinists: if God foreknows it, how can He not be the one who fiats it?
  16. Psalty

Christ the risen Saviour, not potential Saviour! 4

Word games. He saved thousands in the first few weeks and continues to save many more than that. Join us in the real world!

    Contact with God

I just meant, if you are looking to experience God in a supernatural way, Id check out a church like an Assemblies of God. If you desire a supernatural experience, it is unlikely to experience that in churches that are cessationist.

What type of churxh are you going to now?

    Contact with God

Friend, I dont know you but it sounds like you are either: 1. Hungry for a personal experience with God to build your spiritual faith, or 2. Are questioning if He exists and are hoping for proof that He does. Could you tell us more about what and why you are looking?
