    United Methodists are now apostate

The unity of the churches is not organizational, but spiritual. I can only speak with authority of Britain, but there the big denominations are falling off a cliff doctrinally and numerically, but Bible-believing independent churches are growing rapidly. I would put the Church of Rome and the...

    Rebel not.

You're having a laugh, right? In case you've never read it, the Bible, and the NT in particular, is a very argumentative book. Moreover, the apostle Paul prophesied that as soon as he was dead, 'savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. Also, from among yourselves...

The Danger of the Denial of the Pre-Trib Translation (Rapture) of the Church of Jesus Christ

I have not observed anyone claiming this. Perhaps I missed it. Will you please show the place? I think you may be confusing God's temporal punishments of all people with the final judgment of the wicked We read in Psalm 7:11, 'God is a just judge, and God is angry with the wicked every day.'...

The Danger of the Denial of the Pre-Trib Translation (Rapture) of the Church of Jesus Christ

The great day of God's wrath comes at the end of time, when the Lord Jesus returns at the same time as the Church is raptured as per my last post. And btw, you are publishing your private interpretations and being stubborn, but thankfully you do not seem to be leading anyone astray.

The Danger of the Denial of the Pre-Trib Translation (Rapture) of the Church of Jesus Christ

There is no need for you to come over all superior, as if you alone know the Scriptures - which you don't. Of course the Church is the body of Christ, and of course He does not have to suffer for our sins a second time. Try not to be silly. However, there are several verses that tell us that...

    Why do Christians sin?

In Eph. 3:16, Paul prays that we might be 'strengthened with might through the Spirit in the inner man.' So what is this 'inner man,' and why does it need strengthening? The inner man is our redeemed nature. In Rom. 7:22, Paul says, 'For I delight in he law of God according to the inward...

The Danger of the Denial of the Pre-Trib Translation (Rapture) of the Church of Jesus Christ

Of course there is a massive begging of the question here: I simply don't agree with your initial premise, so the rest of your post, despite all you quoting of texts with which I am fully aware, simply has no effect upon my position. The point that you don't seem to understand is that it is the...

    Rebel not.

I think it may be your memory before (and after) Luther that is shot. How about your memory of 1046, when the Holy Roman Emperor Henry III came to Rome to be crowned officially as Emperor? He found no fewer than three 'popes' all vying for power and busy hurling anathemas at one another...

The Danger of the Denial of the Pre-Trib Translation (Rapture) of the Church of Jesus Christ

I'm sure most people would {rightly) not agree with your definition of 'church,' but I never heard of anyone who believes that it began with Adam. Presbyterians tend to believe that it started at Mt. Sinai (Acts 7:28), but I think that most Baptists would believe that it started at Pentecost.

    Forgiveness

I think you may have a different view of forgiveness to mine. I see nowhere that either Paul or Barnabas did anything that demanded forgiveness. They disagreed on whether John Mark should come with them and could not come to agreement, so they went their separate ways. What was the result...

    Conspiracy theory or not?

    Conspiracy theory.

Some Scripture More Inspired Than Others?

I'd like to make another point. I believe that the KJV Translators were right when they wrote: '...We do not deny, nay, we affirm and avow, that the very meanest translation of the Bible in English set forth by men of our profession ...... containeth the word of God; nay, is the word of God.'...

Some Scripture More Inspired Than Others?

This is a slippery slope downwards to apostasy. If some bits are 'more inspired,' then the other bits are 'less inspired' and can be dismissed as unimportant. I think the words of the 1689 Confession ( The WCF and Savoy Confession are almost identical) are very helpful: The authority of the...

    Something my preacher said...

Romans 8:1. No condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.

    Hyper-Calvinism

Both these things are true. On the one hand, 'Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man, the things God has prepared for those who love Him;' on the other hand, 'Your eyes saw my substance , being then unformed. And in Your book they were all written , the days...

    Hyper-Calvinism

In other words, the things that @Van thinks are predestined are predestined, and those he thinks are by chance are indeed by chance. Either God is sovereign or we are at the mercy of blind chance. My vote goes with God.

    Hyper-Calvinism

i This is the most secular post I have read on this forum for a long time (and that's saying something!). Someone else has beaten me to it, but 'under the sun' appears multiple times in Ecclesiastes, and it means basically 'Life without God.' If you were to take the back of one of those...

    Hyper-Calvinism

I pointed out 1 Kings 22 to @Van some time ago. The true prophet, MIcaiah foretells disaster for Ahab (eg. v.23). A Syrian archer fires off an arrow 'at random' (v.34), and amazingly, it 'struck the king of Israel between the joints of his armour.' How remarkable is that? That among...

    Hyper-Calvinism

Romans 11:33-36. Of, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgements and His ways past finding out! "For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has become His counselor? Or who has first given to Him hat it shall be repaid to Him?"...
