Could use your thoughts on this.....

Have to be careful even with that, since many go to fanciful imaginings and allegories with the Tabernacle and Levitical offerings. I'm working in the Canticles present study (Song of Solomon 1-8) and amazed at what some claim as teaching for us there.

Wait. You were gone? :) :)

An Examination & Critique of The NEW KING JAMES VERSION.

When the NKJV came on the scene, I taught my church it was mostly updated language (still mostly using the poorer Byzantine text, like the AV). As an example, I asked what this verse taught of Paul's journey to Rome in the KJV1769 translation: "And from thence we fetched a compass, and came to...

An Examination & Critique of The NEW KING JAMES VERSION.

You could be stoned outside the city gate for saying such to "only sect" zealots. I am still amazed that a man-made Anglican translation has gained such traction among Baptists (who were not allowed ANY input in that translation). And claiming "perfection" is both absurd and an arrogant attack...

The written word of God teaches faith precedes regeneration.

If I may interject a question after reading the thread - From where does this "faith" (that man has to be capable of hearing, repenting of sin, and believing the Gospel) originate? Is this saving faith inherent in every unregenerate man on earth or something given/activated by God? (okay...

    Daniel 2:44 KJV

I use the phrase "developing now" and coming to fulness when the King returns physically to the throne of His father, David. Scratch my head at people who teach this IS the Kingdom today. Just not seeing prophecies fulfilled that must be fulfilled when the Kingdom comes in fulness.

IGNORING GREEK VERBS AFFECTS BAPTIST THEOLOGY

Glad YOU have not abandoned this. Important truths (and my Greek minor in college was almost 60 years ago) from understanding Greek for precise Bible interpretation, not a few-hundred-year-old Anglican translation.

First time this has happened to me in thirty five years of preaching...

Truth. And I heard better motivation from the drill sergeant (with more colorful language) . . .

    Why do Christians sin?

GOOD NEWS. When I was born again, God took my old fallen sin nature and gave me a new heart, a new nature. My "soul" was saved. My "heart of stone" at enmity with God has been miraculously transformed into a living heart. BUT what about my body (flesh) and its condition? It is NOT new, yet. It...

    Their Faith Hath Forgiven You

I can imagine that the paralyzed man probably LED THE CHARGE to get to Christ (as best he could "lead" - that might not be the best turn of phrase :) ). Word that Jesus heals gets out; wouldn't the person needing healing be the most adamant and have the most faith?

    Pesky Problem

And have to be sure the other half of us who do see reality/common sense don't become complacent since we are seeing how FAST culture and events change (every four years). Sin lay at the door (in the heart) of both camps.

Pastoral Ministry as a Second Career

Upon graduation from seminary, I ministered full time with full salary. 60-hour week was the norm. When I later began "mission" work with small churches or founding churches or even in my last 15 year pastorate in church I founded, I was on a love-offering (to help defray expenses, $100 a week...

Gitmo becomes prison for illegal immigrants.

Might correct to "outside the box" for clarity. Return to COMMON SENSE seems to be the direction in 2025. Love it. If someone crosses our border illegally, they are a CRIMINAL. They never were "undocumented immigrants". They are illegal criminals and should face penalties for the crime.

    Hello.

Welcome. My advice to new members - Read many threads and mull over what is discussed. Some try to jump in and often get confused or overwhelmed. Everyone here wants to help folk who come here searching for truth. Pray God will open your ears to be able to truly hear.

    KJVO IFB churches

Actually, this thread is NOT about Bible versions (we would move it immediately) or about the Gospel, but about the "cult-like mindset/actions" of churches embracing that mentality. Legit question many ask. Sadly, I know many KJVonly churches and most are extremely anemic doctrinally and push a...

    KJVO IFB churches

WARNING: We do NOT use the word "cult" to describe or deride fellow believers. I believe some in the only "sect" (approved, less-offensive word) may truly be born again, just taught a pernicious false doctrine. Most of us HATE the cult-like behavior and lock-step mindset of many groups. Hate...

    Wonder around the world

Sounds like a History Channel series of the "gods" as ancient astronauts. You ought to suggest that idea to them!

    Tissue boxes in sanctuary...

As a small-church pastor I almost always led songs. When we got to the 3rd verse of "It is Well with my Soul" I often had tears and was thankful I was waving my arms already. Needed my handkerchief. "My sin - oh, the bliss of this glorious thought - my sin, not in part but the whole Is nailed...
