    Propitiation

From Dr. Bill Mounce's website: Forms of the word Dictionary ἱλασμός, οῦ, ὁ Greek transliteration hilasmos Simplified transliteration hilasmos Gloss atoning sacrifice, the means of forgiveness; traditionally propitiation Definition atoning sacrifice, sin offering, propitiation, expiation...

    Propitiation

Sure I’m being faithful to the text. With propitiation comes appeasement, satisfaction, of God’s wrath.

    Propitiation

It was the Father who was propitiated, and if this was on behalf of all mankind, then His wrath has been appeased for all mankind. The universal atonementists do not realize the implications their theological construct demands.

Sure I exegeted that verse, you just don't like how I did it. Look at the word "propitiation" for instance. How many times have you used that in a sentence that is not bible related? I do not think I've ever used that word outside theological discussions. I'd venture to guess that many true...

And here is where you have to dig into scripture to get the gold contained in it. What exactly is propitiation and what does it actually accomplish? From Bill Mounce’s website: ἱλασμός hilasmos Gloss atoning sacrifice, the means of forgiveness; traditionally propitiation Definition atoning...

I showed the context in an earlier post. For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for...

And yet, I am sure the teaching of men has impacted your beliefs. We are not Christians left to ourselves and our own personal study, but are a body of believers who work together to get a deeper and fuller understanding of the scriptures.

What we are debating about is the extent and scope of the atonement. We both agree that Christ’s death made atonement for sin. It paid the sin debt in full. If this was for all mankind indiscriminately, then all mankind indiscriminately have had their sin debt paid in full. Meaning, seeing that...

We use scripture to build upon scripture. Scripture does not contradict itself. Jesus said He was laying His life down for the sheep. We see that the Bible classifies ppl into either sheep or goats, and He did not say He was laying His life down for the sheep.

What we as reformed do is try to make every verse align with each other. Let us examine these verses you've posited into this thread, okay? I am using the 1995 NASB, FYI. But we do see Him who was made for a little while lower than the angels, namely, Jesus, because of the suffering of death...

I am showing that all does not mean anything and everything. Just like a dad tells his child to not eat all the cookies. Obviously, all the cookies does not mean every cookie ever made, or every cookie in existence world wide at that particular time, but all the cookies in the box/bag.

I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.[Philippians 4:13] By using the same eisegesis as you did in the above, we can commit rape, murder, molestation, lie, commit adultery and idolatry, take the Lord's name in vain, steal, &c through Him who strengthens us. Because doing all things...
