At my bank you can start the check numbers wherever you want, so I chose check # 1000.

Last month when it became time to pay the church bills I noticed that check number 6666 was coming up and I made no special plans for who would get it. I just waited to see how it came out. Guess who got it? THE PASTOR! I was going to needle him about it but I let it slip my mind,

I can't believe anyone would have used 2005 or 2010 - are you serious?

I and my team used 2050 for windowing. "If the year portion is less than 50, assume 20 for century, if greater assume 19." So we won't be around to fix it when it breaks. That's for those young folks to do if they haven't replaced the systems by then. Hey, it could happen.

    Only if you're Hal Lindsey.

    It didn't happen in June 6, 1906, or June 6, 1966, or June 6, 1806, or June 06, 1706, etc etc etc.

    I'll bet anyone $10 it won't happen on June 6, 2006.

It's coming this year, 2005 and has already begun. Many organizations used a short-cut method called "windowing" to postpone the Y2K problem... Applications which used "windowing" for their Y2K solution will begin to fail again in 2005, 2010 and 2015, etc</font>[/QUOTE]If anyone is still using software that required windowing, they're using software that is at least 10 years old. If that's the case, they're got a bigger problem than Y2K. If they haven't managed in 10 years to stick a crowbar in their wallets, they deserve anything that's bound to heppen (which probably won't happen anyway).

Well I'm not worried. Ask anybody in Atlanta how far it is to Villa Rica and they'll tell you it's 100 years. I'll be dead by then. [IMG]

I'm a mainframe software architect/engineer (consultant) and I've seen some really strange things even in the fortune 100 companies.

At one of the biggest airline manufacturers in the world, I have found
20-30 year old COBOL programs that have never been modified. I had to modify the COBOL code to get the modern COBOL compiler to accept them.

I went to Wendy's and my bill was $6.66. It was a hot & spicy chicken sandwich, some chili, fries & a salad.
