    John 1:9-13
This was the true Light that, becoming known among humanity, enlightens every person. He was among humanity, and humanity came into being through Him, but humanity did not acknowledge Him. He came to His own, and His own people did not accept Him. But all who accepted Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name, who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of a man, but of God

Note that the defense of Vanism uses absurdity to hide truth. The natural meaning of Kosmos means 'world,' not at all necessarily all the people in the world.
If Christ laid down His life as a ransom for every single person in the world, then what is wrong with His sacrifice that it was unacceptable to the father as a propitiation for every single person?
This is a spectacular example of putting the cart before the horse. Just read 2 Thessalonians 2:13. We were chosen 'from the beginning,' through the work of the Spirit in sanctification and through faith, which is itself a gift of God (Ephesians 2:8). 'For what makes you differ from another? And what do you have that you did not receive?' (1 Corinthians 4:7).
But election is not salvation. Once we had not received mercy, but we were chosen to receive it and in God's good time we did (1 Peter 2:9-10).

    1) Note the claim scripture is Vanism!
    2) Did anyone say Kosmos always means all of humanity? Thus another absurdity
    3) Next the absurd claim propitiation refers to the act of salvation rather than the means of salvation. More absurdity, more obfuscation to hide Calvinism is false doctrine.
    4) Next "from the beginning" cannot mean "before the beginning" but the absurdity is trotted out again and again.
    5) Did anyone say we do not receive via revelation the information we put our faith in? Nope, so more absurdity, more obfuscation to hide Calvinism is false doctrine.
    6) Finally 1 Peter 2:9-10 are rewritten so being elect does not convey mercy. Good Golly Miss Molly...
    7) 1 John 2:2 Christ is the means of salvation for the whole of humanity...

Did anyone say our ability to put our faith in information we believe is true is not a gift from God? Nope...

On and on the same oft refuted bogus claims are repeated, but God's word does not change, individuals are chosen through or by reason of faith in the truth!!!

God loved humanity in this way, He gave His uniquely divine Son so that everyone believing into Him would not perish but have eternal life.

For there is one God and one intermediary between God and humanity, Christ Jesus, himself human,
who gave himself as a ransom for all, revealing God's purpose at his appointed time.

John 15:19 (VCV). If you were of humanity, humanity would love its own. Yet because you are not of humanity, but I chose you out of humanity, therefore humanity hates you.'
John 17:16. 'They are not of humanity, just as I am not of humanity.'
So the Disciples weren't human, and nor is the Lord Jesus !

Taking them away, or pardoning and forgiving each sin of His own?

John 1:29 The next day he *saw Jesus coming to him, and *said, “Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the humanity.

To take away sin of humanity does not mean all of humanity, but could mean a select few of humanity, but being added to each day as God continues to put believers into Christ.

    1 John 2:2
and he is the means of salvation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for the whole of humanity.

Poor grammar Van. For you to say "takes away the sin of the humanity" makes it seem as though English is not your first language.

Martin you have just shown why people should not treat calvinists as if they understand the biblical text. You show no understanding of context. Calvinists keep trotting out the same old canards. They have to read into the text so they can justify their errant view.

And you have just shown why people should not treat Arminians as if they understand irony.

You may have wanted to use irony in the post but then after reading a number of posts form calvinists it did not surprise me that you would misread the bible that way. :Biggrin I know that we do not agree on much but there is always hope that you will come to your senses and leave calvinism for a true biblical view. :) :Whistling

Do not love the humanity nor the things in the humanity. If anyone loves the humanity, the love of the Father is not in him.[1 John 2:15]

For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole humanity and forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?[Matthew 16:26]
