Baptist are big on the important to Baptists is that we do the ordinance of baptism correctly. We seem to be very concerned that baptism is by immersion and not sprinkling. In fact, many baptists will even say that those who were baptized by sprinkling, need to be re-baptized the right way. I would like to know why baptist's don't typically take the other ordinance, the Lord's Supper, so seriously. If we are so concerned about doing things the New Testament commands why don't we observed the Lord's Supper on a regular basses? Why is it only now and again when we think of it. Every Church I have started we do it weekly lead by the men in the church

Good question how often do you think we should “proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.”

Our church observes the Lord's Supper once a quarter. Is that regular enough?
I'd say that's regular enough.
Seriously, John 3v36, would something less than once a week be acceptable?
Another question. Do you observe the LS on Sunday morning or Sunday night?
Would you advocate having it in every service? If you don't, why not?

Nope! You won’t find anything that say once on Sunday and trice on Tuesday. And you are right some do take it very serious. Some is not most. Not trying to accuse but that most seem to make a “oh! By the way we have not had the lords supper in a while let do one of these Sundays” and when I ask pastors why they do not do it very often I seem to get the same reply as if there is some play book of reply’s out there. They have all we don’t want it to become mundane or ordinary.
But the way I see it my father picture hangs on the wall. I do not keep it in a draw. When I look at it I remember all the different thing we did as a father and son.
The first time He took me hunting
He taught me how to drive
Drove me on my first date
Helped me with my science project
Tutored me though college english
It the same way with the Lord table. There is more to remember about Jesus death than that it happen. We can remember what that did for us.

-By his death we are brother with Christ

Sure and something more than once a week. I don’t want to be legalist about I just what people to think about it. It very important.

It does not matter one church I went to had it every Sunday evening except on the 5th sunday

I think Paul's point is that it is up to each local church to decide when and how often to do it.
We do it once a month. But "enough" is a subjective term. We used to do it once a quarter. But the church decided to do it more often. It wasn't a matter of right and wrong, it was a matter of choice.
I never said it was right or wrong. But what is you decision make process

John I am not so sure that Baptist take baptism serious at all, at least where it should be taken serious. Yes most if not all hold to a particular mode of baptism but then we turn around and are willing to put it off for days, weeks and months sometimes just to get all the family and friends together for the baptism or just for convenience. While I admit that there is no prescribed time given to have someone baptized after they confess Christ, however if you look at scripture baptism was done immediately. We should follow that example! So I think we have strained at a gnat and swallowed a camel.
As to the Lord's table there simply is nothing to suggest any kind of frequency so it is really left up to each congregation to decide, but there certainly should be some kind of frequency set with each congregation and kept.

I think this is the right answer to John3v36's questions.
As to how we arrived at our church's frequency, the simple answer is, that's what we decided. There is no wrong answer.

You right the is not a frequency of how often we should have the Lords table. And there is not a frequency of how often we should witness so maybe one very three month is good enough. It say nowhere how often you should come together just that you should not neglect it. So three time a year should be good. You ask me how I arrived at these frequency? The simple answer is, that's what I just decided. There is no wrong answer.
So, how about once a year?

If my memory is correct, there are some Baptist Board members whose churches observe the Lord's Supper once a year.
Maybe they can jump in here and explain their preference.
I prefer more frequent observances, but again, it's a preference.

We as Old Regular Baptist feel that the Lord instituted the Supper at the Passover and since the Passover is once a year then we celebrate the Communion service once a year at our home church. Thanks. I read your description of your communion service. Do I understand correctly that your foot-washing is always done at the same time of the Lord's Supper? And does that mean you do that only once a year as well?

Yes, immediately following the Lord's Supper. We use John chapter 13 as our guide. Even though we conduct the communion and feet washing once a year at our home church, we often visit corresponding churches to attend their communion and footwashing service. By the way, I have attended 8 communion services this year. Please I do not want this to turn into a debate about feetwashing. I am just answering a question.
