10 Fruits of Right Wing Christians

I'm presuming the author is not a Christian, and writes for a left wing publication. I could care less about left or right politics, but I was amazed when I read the article of how much of it applies to many of you. Those who focus on politics and not Jesus.

1 Ignorance
2 Fear
3 Egotism
4 Self-Righteousness
5 Selfishness
6 Bigotry
7 Greed
8 War
9 Hate
10 Violence

"According to the Bible (Galatians 5:22 and 23), the fruit of the Christian Spirit is supposed to be “love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” Since Republicans are constantly representing themselves as God’s one and only true political allies, it seems to me that they ought to possess some of the traits described in this verse.

Of course the Bible makes it clear that not everyone who claims to be God’s earthly political spokesperson is really speaking for God. In the book of Matthew Chapter 7, Jesus warns his followers about false prophets, whom he described as “wolves in sheep’s clothing.” He said “you will know them by their fruits.” He clarified the point by saying “a good tree bares good fruit, and a bad tree bares bad fruit.” Seems simple enough.

When we look at the “fruits” of the right-wing Christian spirit, do we see “love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness gentleness and self-control?”

You could search day and night for examples of conservatives demonstrating those qualities. No matter how long and hard you look, you’re going to come up empty."-Randa Morris

The bigoted op presumes the content of people's posts on this board encompass their entire lives. Such fallacies have no place in loving discussions on this board.

Congratulations. You just slandered millions of people in one post. That takes talent.

You know, we could say the same thing about the Christian left, who care nothing about winning people to Christ but instead devote their churches and pulpits to bringing about social change. They ought to read the Bible, which is completely devoid of any advocacy of social or governmental change.

You have nailed it.

How "loving" are those who have promoted the murder of 50-plus million babies? Who press for Sodomite marriage, who call good what God calls an abomination?

Blah blah blah….
That was hilarious.

Why are you here ? Isn't it your contention that none of us have the Holy Spirit in us, due to it hasn't manifested itself in the gift of tongues ?

And for many of them - their highest aspiration is to drive Christians with a conscience out of business or off of the air waves - or to get judges to determine what is marriage, what is science, what part of the Bible is acceptable and PC-correct and what part is not.

Liberalism is very generous as long as you are a fellow-liberal or a fellow-critic of the Bible standard of right and wrong. If you are outside that group - they have zero tolerance and much name-calling reserved for just such minorities.

The SS decision was made with the "assumption" that Pastors would not be forced to officiate in Lev 18 style abominations. But they did not say what a denomination could do if a pastor suddenly declared himself to be part of that Lev 18 group. Can they still be fired after June 26, 2015 ?

No, you have the seed of the Spirit placed there when you believed. And it's Friday dude. Shouldn't you be at the bar preachin the Gospel through sad Country music songs to all the drunks and glorifying yourself?

Exactly, Bob. Good post in its entirety.

The far left is not "liberal". They are the most intolerant, hate-filled bunch out there.

Um... If you go through the posts since he originally posted this, you can see the 10 fruits. I would post a list, but surely, you must be self-aware to recognize the incredible incredulity with which you all deal with anything that might convict you of your arrogance, sin, or ignorance. I have repeatedly made long, explanatory posts articulating my perspective, only to have them largely ignored. When you do care to treat me like a fellow human being, you take one tiny piece of what I've said and respond to it, most often when I have already explained myself in the original post. I wish I could say that the post is incorrect, but reading through this very forum proves its point.

Oh, my band is pretty good, too. I play with some of the best musicians in Missoula.

You going to answer any of the real challenges ?
