But wouldn't you agree the topics which have been hotly debated here have been MAJORS?

The threads I started were on direct quotes from Calvinist;

1) No belief in TULIP = No Sheep

2) One becomes a Calvinist the same way one becomes a Christian

3) God hates the non-elect

Are these not majors?

Well then it depends on the individual. What is major and minor is relative.

I've said before on BB that the major points of Christianity should center around the major creeds of the church...specifically the Apostles and Nicene.

These major points have traditionally been:
1. There is one God.
2. God is the creator of everything.
3. There is one Lord, Jesus the Christ.
4. Jesus is God's Son.
5. Jesus was born of the virgin Mary by the Holy Spirit.
6. Jesus died to save sinners.
7. Jesus rose on the third day.
8. Jesus ascended into heaven.
9. Jesus sits in power at the right hand of the Father.
10. Jesus is the head of the church.
11. Jesus will come again.
12. Jesus will judge the world.
13. Jesus will reign with his people forever.
14. Faith in Jesus alone saves.
15. and judging by the previous major points....everything is about Jesus.

It was said that Loraine Boettner "gave us the five points of Calvinism in the form of the acronym TULIP." However, I have mentioned the fact several times in the past that Presbyterian minister Cleland Boyd McAfee holds that distinction. He delivered a lecture back in 1905 to the Presbyterian Union of Newark and used that mnemonic tool.

But the wordings all exisited long before his time. And he didn't use U for unconditional election. He called his category "universal sovereignty."

Yes...and before the 70's, TULIP was not commonly mentioned my most Calvinists.

I agree, and this is the only way in which we will ever have meaningful and civil discussion and debate here. We must understand the above (or something very similar to it) as the majors, and all else as minor in comparison.

Christianity resides under this umbrella.

:applause: Very good.

However I do notice that this would (at least appears to) exclude some here who hold to a very strong form of dispensationalism and say that Christ is not presently reigning.
