If you are ever called a heretic report the post immediately.

Personally, the names do not bother me in the least, because I know they aren't true, and I realize that I might be taking it wrong, or the person has conveyed something in the wrong manner. I just brought this up, to show the point in my post. To me, it is just as bad, if not worse, to label, or false accuse, or assume, or imply that a person said or believes something that they do not, instead of just asking, and then listening to the answer. But that seems to be the order of the day around here (myself included).

Michelle: "I have found things to be confusing, but these things can always be explained, but we just have to study with humble prayer and desire to understand. We have to let the Lord show us, not us showing ourselves."

Any variation that seems to appear between two Bibles
(for example the NIV and the NASB) can likewise be resolved.
But we cannot resolve these temporary variants that we seem
to see by puting on blinders to all Bibles save one.

To accept the view you have, Sister Michelle (note i'm
trying not to tell you what your view is),
you have to assume:
"This book is God's true word." You may not have
gone through this logic, but you don't have to
conciously assume your assumptions.
OTOH, I assume all Bibles are the true word of God.
I have never found this assumption to lead me to an
error. Nor have I ever found an error in any Bible.
Yes, i found some places I don't understand, but someday
maybe i will.

BTW, I have a real problem now with taking a book
that doesn't tell you what it is (or that distinguishes
between itself and similiar books) and assuming of it:
"This book is God's true word."

Just today a book was left out in my Living Room
(my DW left it there). It says "Holy Bible" on the
outside, but it doesn't say which version, which
edition. I've got today 16 Bibles on my computer shelve.
Fifteen of them tell what they are.
The 16th does not tell what it is.
Strangely, if we compared these 16 bibles of mine to
your Bible, we would find the closest match between
your Bible and my Unknown Book. This should not
be so. If your Bible is a real Bible, let it say
what it is. There are some Bibles correctly marked
as KJV1769 and KJV1762, but these are rare.

Teaching "reinspiration" of God's Word at some date after its writing is heresy and that word may be properly used. It is an attack on the precious doctrine of inspiration that is a hallmark of Baptist distinctives.

If anyone espouses such, I will be the first to use the "h" word and try my best to decry the cult.

The originals were inspired.
The copies were copied.
The translations were translated.

That is why two or more copies help
one come closer to the inspired original.
That is why two or more translations help
one come closer to the inspired original.

In any case, one and only one versionists
tend to negate good Bible study.

Until you prove from scripture that only the autographs were inspired, it's all sticks and stones.

You can and have called me all manners of names. Do what you wish. It doesn't bother me one bit.
I will try my best to do what the Lord has told me to do with the Lord's will and leading:

Matthew 5
43. Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
44. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
45. That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
46. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
47. And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
48. Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

and ....

Matthew 12

33. Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.
34. O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
35. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
36. But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
37. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

Michelle, did you get mentioned by name here? If so, I am sorry. I try to only laugh and not call you names.

Do you believe in reinspiration? I pray not. This is a very serious matter.

I recently started a topic on that notion, Brother Lacy. Look forward to the discussion.

2 Timothy 3:16 (HCSB):
All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable
for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting
for training in righteousness,

Iron sharpens iron.
I rephrase:

The original scriptures were inspired.
The copy scriptures were copied.
The translation scriptures were translated.

That is why two or more copies help
one come closer to the inspired original scripture.
That is why two or more translations help
one come closer to the inspired original scripture.

[sarcasm]You naughty boys.[/sarcasm]

You don't HAVE to take candy from a baby
just cause you CAN. :(
(Note for the humor impaired, this is
metaphor for stealing away from those
who cannot possibly keep you from taking it.
And the stealing away is a physical metaphor
for a mental truth: the stealing of
debate points away from those who have
no way to prevent it /and usually
don't even know they are being 'taken' / )

For the first 34 years I was a Christian,
I used the KJV1769 exclusively.
Which version(s) did you use your first
34 years as a Christian?

The Bible tells us to comfort the KJOists. [Smile]
It also tells us to warn many of them, support them, and of course, be patient, as we are will everyone.

Church discipline is probably too drastic for most cases, unless the issue is causing a division in the Body of Christ.

Maybe another inquisition?

Raise up the stake. Bring a torch. Pile on the faggots.

Oh my. English HAS changed in 400 years, hasn't it. Better deal with the faggot issue over on the Theology Forum . . .

TE DEUM laudamus: te Dominum confitemur.
Te aeternum Patrem omnis terra veneratur.
Tibi omnes Angeli; tibi Caeli et universae Potestates;
Tibi Cherubim et Seraphim incessabili voce proclamant:
Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus, Dominus Deus Sabaoth.
Patrem immensae maiestatis:
Venerandum tuum verum et unicum Filium;
Sanctum quoque Paraclitum Spiritum.
Tu Rex gloriae, Christe.
Tu Patris sempiternus es Filius.
Tu ad liberandum suscepturus hominem, non horruisti Virginis uterum.
Tu, devicto mortis aculeo, aperuisti credentibus regna caelorum.
Tu ad dexteram Dei sedes, in gloria Patris.
Iudex crederis esse venturus.
Te ergo quaesumus, tuis famulis subveni: quos pretioso sanguine redemisti.
Aeterna fac cum sanctis tuis in gloria numerari.
V. Salvum fac populum tuum, Domine, et benedic hereditati tuae.
R. Et rege eos, et extolle illos usque in aeternum.
V. Per singulos dies benedicimus te.
R. Et laudamus nomen tuum in saeculum, et in saeculum saeculi.
V. Dignare, Domine, die isto sine peccato nos custodire.
R. Miserere nostri, Domine, miserere nostri.
V. Fiat misericordia tua, Domine, super nos, quemadmodum speravimus in te.
R. In te, Domine, speravi: non confundar in aeternum.

O GOD, we praise Thee: we acknowledge Thee to be the Lord.
Everlasting Father, all the earth doth worship Thee.
To Thee all the Angels, the Heavens and all the Powers,
all the Cherubim and Seraphim, unceasingly proclaim:
Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God of Hosts!
Heaven and earth are full of the Majesty of Thy glory.
The glorious choir of the Apostles,
the wonderful company of Prophets,
the white-robed army of Martyrs, praise Thee.
Holy Church throughout the world doth acknowledge Thee:
the Father of infinite Majesty;
Thy adorable, true and only Son;
and the Holy Spirit, the Comforter.
O Christ, Thou art the King of glory!
Thou art the everlasting Son of the Father.
Thou, having taken it upon Thyself to deliver man, didst not disdain the Virgin's womb.
Thou overcame the sting of death and hast opened to believers the Kingdom of Heaven.
Thou sitest at the right hand of God, in the glory of the Father.
We believe that Thou shalt come to be our Judge.
We beseech Thee, therefore, to help Thy servants whom Thou hast redeemed with Thy Precious Blood.
Make them to be numbered with Thy Saints in everlasting glory.
V. Save Thy people, O Lord, and bless Thine inheritance!
R. Govern them, and raise them up forever.
V. Every day we thank Thee.
R. And we praise Thy Name forever, yea, forever and ever.
V. O Lord, deign to keep us from sin this day.
R. Have mercy on us, O Lord, have mercy on us.
V. Let Thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, for we have hoped in Thee.
R. O Lord, in Thee I have hoped; let me never be put to shame.

HOLY God, we praise Thy Name
Lord of all we bow before Thee;
all on earth Thy scepter claim,
all in heaven above adore Thee;
Infinite Thy vast domain,
everlasting is Thy reign.
HARK, the loud celestial hymn
angel choirs above are raising;
Cherubim and Seraphim
in unceasing chorus praising,
fill the heavens with sweet accord;
Holy, Holy, Holy Lord!
LO, the Apostolic train
Join, Thy sacred name to hallow:
prophets swell the loud refrain,
and the white-robbed Martyrs follow;
and, from morn till set of sun,
through the Church the song goes on.
HOLY Father, Holy Son,
Holy Spirit, Three we name Thee,
While in essence only One,
undivided God we claim Thee:
and, adoring, bend the knee
while we own the mystery.
THOU art King of glory, Christ:
Son of God, yet born of Mary;
for us sinners sacrificed,
and to death a tributary:
first to break the bars of death,
Thou has opened heaven to faith.
FROM Thy high celestial home,
Judge of all, again returning,
we believe that Thou shalt come
in the dreaded Doomsday morning;
when Thy voice shall shake the earth,
and the startled dead come forth.
THEREFORE do we pray Thee, Lord:
help Thy servants whom, redeeming
by Thy Precious Blood out-poured,
Thou hast saved from Satan's scheming.
Give to them eternal rest
in the glory of the Blest.
SPARE Thy people, Lord, we pray,
by a thousand snares surrounded:
keep us without sin today,
never let us be confounded.
Lo, I put my trust in Thee;
never, Lord, abandon me.
