I have owned 57 vehicles over the course of my life. Many of them would be classics if I had them now. Among them: 57 Ford Fairlane 500, 59 Ford Galaxy 500 (had 3), 56 VW, 62 VW, 64 VW, 66 Malibu SS, 73 Malibu SS, 76 Caprice Classic, 57 Plymouth, 63 Nova SS, 71 Nova SS, 62 Ford Fairlane, 64 Ford, 51 Desota, 67 Firebird, 68 Mustang, 64 Oldmobile (had 2), 67 Ford Fairlane, 71 Maverick, 62 International Pick-up, 66 Impala, 71 Chrysler Cordova, 79, 81, 84 Cadillacs, 72 Chevy Vega, 77 Thunderbird, 72 Mercury Marquis, and on the list goes. I got out of the car collecting business a few years back. I now have only one car which will eventually become a collector's car...a 95 Corvette. I have had a love affair with vehicles since my childhood.

Did you leave any of them in the yard? I liked the '59 Ford a lot. Perry Mason drove one. madre and I almost bought one in Ft. Ashby, WV quite a few years back. You've owned some very cool cars..... except for the '71 Maverick unless it was a Grabber. And the Vega unless it was a Cosworth.

We've had a '65 Chevy step-side truck for quite a few years. We had to put a new tranny in it, so we put a four-speed, so's we could use it to haul logs & brush, but the rest is original. It's still a work truck.

My favorite cars were two Dodge Dart Swingers, and a Plymouth Scamp, all very early seventies.. Pretty much the same, slant-6 with an automatic. They were two door-door coupes, but you could still fit seven people into one. Great cars, easy to work on, but not very good in winter.

Your post reminded me - I've owned 2 new Plymouth Dusters in my life. The first one was black and showed dirt, not a good choice when living in the snow belt. The second was gold with cream interior. Never had a lick of trouble with either of them. That was back in the day where you could buy a brand new vehicle and the car payments were easy.

And, oh! How I wish I had hung onto my red Geo Tracker (with the black top). Oh, how I wish I had never traded it in. It was pitiful on road trips (no cruise), and every time an 18-wheeler would go by, it would practically blow us into the weeds, and the roll bar was like a badminton net tubing, but oh, what mileage it got and it NEVER had a wrench on it for the 3 years I owned it. They were sweet vehicles for just running around town with the top down, cruising with the radio. Yes, I've made some bad decisions in my life, and trading that in was one of them. :(
