You did see the word "evidently" right. here is the full quote

p. 287, column b “Whether Christ is called God must be determined from John 1:1; 20:28; I John 5:20; Romans 9:5; Titus 2:13; Hebrews 1:8ff; etc.; the matter is still in dispute among theologians.”

(Being unbracketed, this statement is evidently Grimm’s own, not Thayer’s). To the claim that “the matter is still in dispute among theologians,” Doctrinal Error in Thayer's Lexicon | SHARPER IRON

Thayer enlarged the earlier work of Grimm, whoever said the words, Thayer has put his name to this lexicon, and claimed all that it says. If he in any way disagreed with anything, then he should have made a note of this. He does not, so actually agrees with it.

In your mind only. The free world does not live by your bizarre rules.

so you will take the New World Translation of the Jehovah's Witnesses, for example, as your basis for a New Bible version, and leave without any comment, readings like John 1:1, "and the Word was a god"? Your argument is moot!

More slander and false sayings. I am a Baptist not a Jehovah's witness and I do not read out of a New World Translation. Your accusation, as usual is false! The true reading is "and the Word was God." Or more literal,
Tyndale Bible 1534
In the beginnynge was the worde and the worde was with God: and the worde was God.

One needs to have the gift of interpreting the tongue to understand that though!
