3-1/2 hours of grilling, 3-1/2 hours of lies

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius on Wednesday deflected charges that the administration misled the American people about being able to keep their health plans under ObamaCare -- claiming that despite thousands of cancellation notices, the White House is keeping its promise.

Sebelius testified at a House hearing that originally was called to address the glitch-ridden ObamaCare website. Sebelius personally apologized for those failures and told lawmakers: "Hold me accountable for the debacle. I'm responsible."

Sebelius took the blame for giving the impression that the website was ready for launch before Oct. 1. "I told the president we were ready to go. Clearly, I was wrong," she said.

But Republicans also used the opportunity to press Sebelius on President Obama's repeated claims that people who like their current health plans can keep them under the new law. Thousands of cancellation notices going out to consumers have sharply challenged that claim.
First, the most ridiculous thing said all morning was that, prior to the ACA, the health insurance industry was "largely unregulated." Sebelius said that, and the Democrats have picked up on the battle cry. It is a bold-faced, farcical lie!! Health insurance is, and always has been, one of the most heavily regulated industries in the nation. Sebelius knows that. She is a former Kansas Insurance Commissioner!! Do they really think the American people are that stupid? Oh, forget I asked that. Of course they do!

Sebelius clearly spent the morning trying to alternately justify the administration's commitment to the ACA and the contractors responsible for building the faulty website, and then standing between Congress and the Great Pretender in claiming only she is responsible for the debacle. When she couldn't think of a rational answer, she simply lied, unabashedly. Her husband is a federal judge in Topeka. Do you suppose he has informed her of the consequences of lying to Congress? If he has, the warnings were ignored.

Falling on her sword is admirable, I guess. But it doesn't solve any problem, and it doesn't account for the continued lies he has told that you keep what you had and the ACA wouldn't affect you if you had a plan you liked. She also exhibited utter ignorance of the very law she administers, claiming it is "illegal" for her to join the exchanges. The website -- as well as several members of the House Commerce and Energy Committee -- assures her she is wrong:

Most people will be eligible for health coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace.

To be eligible for health coverage through the Marketplace, you:

  • must live in the United States
  • must be a U.S. citizen or national (or be lawfully present)
  • can't be currently incarcerated

All she has to do is opt out of her federal employee health plan. You can verify that for yourself at the link above. Assuming, of course, you can log in.

Further, she denied any change was made to the "grandfathering" clause of the ACA that allowed existing policies to remain in effect without meeting all the coverage requirements of the ACA. She said that despite Congress having a copy of the directive she issued in which changes were detailed that she made less than six months after the ACA passed. Those changes specified that any change, even a $5 increase in co-pay or a $1 increase in premium, would classify the policy as "new," and therefore not eligible for grandfathering.

This administration is as corrupt as any we've ever had.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

This whole mess just makes me ANGRY:BangHead::mad::tear:...the truth is "We the people" can't do a thing about it other than comply or have even MORE of our hard earned income "legally" taken from us. As a Bible Believer I DO believe God is Sovereign and in control and He WILL take care of His own...but as an American, I can't help but be angry at this government.

Here's somewhat of an update/analysis of what happened today ...

WASHINGTON – The Obama administration's confident claims back in 2009 and 2010 about the landmark health care overhaul are steadily returning to haunt them.

As thousands of Americans receive insurance plan cancellation notices, President Obama's oft-repeated statement that anyone who likes their health plan can keep it is now a ripe target. And an Aug. 4, 2009 White House blog that tried to calm rising concerns over the Affordable Care Act, or ObamaCare -- in the context of today's developments -- makes some spurious claims.

"Opponents of health insurance reform may find the truth a little inconvenient, but as our second president famously said, 'facts are stubborn things,'" Macon Phillips, then-director of White House digital strategy, wrote at the time.

The blog, part of the White House website's so-called "reality check," is chockfull of "explainer" videos from people like Linda Douglass, the communications director for the White House's Health Reform Office. In one, she says one of her jobs "is to keep track of all the disinformation about health insurance reform."
And, of course, one thing she identified at that time as so-called "disinformation" was the claim that the ACA "couldn't help" but cost people their insurance. And it does. So now all this stuff seems pretty hollow.

But will the administration, and particularly, the Great Pretender, own up to the lies? Of course not! We didn't expect any less than their own disinformation campaign -- including "I'm a federal employee, it's illegal for me to enroll in the ACA" or "I didn't change the grandfathering clause" when it is obvious she did, or my personal favorite, that the health insurance industry was "largely unregulated" prior to the ACA's passage.

Again, do they really think we are that stupid, and again, obviously, yes they do.
