I'm a little confused and would like some help understanding what these three promises are and how we determine that there are three promises listed in the passage.
When I read the passage, I only see two promises. 1. God hears our prayers. 2. If our prayer is according to God's will it will be given us.
I'm unable to understand the promises that are referenced by Stanley. It appears that he's saying that we already have that which we are praying for and that we know that we have it. If we already have it and know that we have it, why would we pray for it?
God makes us a threefold promise in I Jn 5:14-15. First, He promises to listen if we pray according to His will. Second, He promises that we already possess what we have asked for. Third, He promises that we know that we have the petitions we desire. So when we pray according to His will, He hears us, we have what we ask for, and we know that we have what we asked for.

1 John 5:14-15 said:5:14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: and if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask , we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
