"...They include St. Louis, Baltimore, Detroit, and New Orleans, coming at 15th, 23rd, 46th and 50th places, respectively.

The list looks at the number of homicides per 100,000 inhabitants that have been committed within a year. It does not take into account other types of violent crimes, such as assault and robbery.

It is also worth noting that the top 50 rankings this year is comprised entirely of cities within Latin America, South Africa, and The United States...."

Wow, I surprised Chicago didn't make mention.

If Chicago is not listed - then the other ones must be real - real bad!

Those are old statistics. The city of Jackson Mississippi has a much higher rate than any of those cities listed (as listed in the article.) Jackson's population for 2022 is 149,739. In 2021 it was probably right at 150,000. In 2020 and 2021 its number of murders were close to 150. In 2021 it was 155. That would make the rate right at 100 per 100,000 or slightly higher. Jackson, Mississippi, has nation's highest per capita murder rate in 2021

The big cities have a worse reputation but some smaller cites are just as dangerous. The rest of the metropolitan area of Metro Jackson is reasonably safe, but the inner city has major problems. Crime is just one of them. Jackson is already over 100 murders this year. The rate for three years in a row are likely to be higher than the worse rate listed in this article again.

True. but I'm also surprised Milwaukee didn't make it. Folks I've talked to from parts of the city report gunfire all the time.

A little perspective.
What do you want to bet that the Drug Trade plays an important part in those statistics.
