5 Reasons War in Ukraine Should Worry You

And there are more reasons to be concerned ......

Conflict in Ukraine began Tuesday, with an announcement that Russia would begin war games on the Ukrainian border, involving three Russian armies, 150,000 troops, 200 combat aircraft and helicopters, and more than 2,000 tanks, armored personnel carriers, and other pieces of "military hardware." Over the ensuing days, it evolved rapidly into an armed takeover of crucial military installations, airports, and communications centers around the Russian military base in Sevastopol, leased from Ukraine in the Crimea. Russia's parliament has authorized a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, putatively to protect ethnic Russians living in the country. Ukraine has responded with military mobilization and a warning that further incursions by Russian troops will amount to a declaration of war.

Of course the manufacturing and natural wealth of Ukraine is significant, but this is yet another step towards the reunification of the Soviet Empire.

Has anyone else read Tom Clancy's Command Authority? Clancy saw all of this before he died (or was killed because he knew to much. . .)

Seriously, Putin's goal has always been to resurect the Soviet Union. He will either maintain Ukraine as a vassal state or annex them.

Putin had to lie about the war games. Why is that? Everyone should worry except those who support Marxist regimes.

A most ignorant reply and very off topic. I doubt you bothered to read the article.

Frankly I am worried. I wish I knew where this was heading ... well maybe not ... depends on where it will go.

Uncertainty on this level is why I got almost totally out of the stock market today. I'll stick with cash for a bit ... maybe a long bit.

It's very worrisome. Russia can shut off Ukraine's exports and shut off their natural gas. They could basically starve and freeze Ukraine into submission, and since much of Europe gets natural gas from Russia via pipelines that go through Ukraine, he can blackmail the West. There is much the West can do. The West will probably cave in and try to appease Putin by letting him have Crimea, but Putin knows he needs Ukraine if he wants to fully restore the Russian Bear as an empire.

Let's hope David Cameron of Great Britain knows what to do because Obama is clueless.

I wonder ... Putin came to Obama's rescue regarding Syria. It'll be interesting to see if Obama can be a mediator between Russia and Ukraine....

This Is The Gas Pipeline Map That Shows Why The Crisis In Ukraine Affects All Of Europe

thats a lot of pipeline

A lot of pipeline in isolated areas. And oh yes, a power vacuum. Perhaps western Europe and Russia should worry more about the probs from the Chechens and Islamists filling that vacuum in an area ripe for quite easy sabatoge.
