Sixty South Carolina House Republicans are asking Gov. Mark Sanford to resign.
A letter asking the GOP governor to leave office was delivered to Sanford shortly after noon Wednesday.
It follows one sent a day earlier by House Speaker Bobby Harrell asking for Sanford's resignation.

Well, here's one South Carolinian that disagrees, and why!!
1 The present Lt Gov would then be the Daddy Rabbit, and I sure ain't in favor of that.
2 Sanford has been villified primarily cause he's bucked the "good ole boy" system, and both Ds and Rs (rinos) would love to get this thorn out from under their saddle.
3 He doesn't have that much longer to serve, so I see more confusion (a desired result of the opposition, so they can push their agenda less obviously) than if he completes his term.
4 Sorta the same as 4, but if he were ONE of the good ole boys, his wrist would have been slapped and next day all would be back to politics as usual.
5 His biggest transgression was against his family, and while he did violate a public trust, others have done much worse and been given a pass.
So all-in-all, I see far less damage to the state to let nature take it's course, and the citizens decide the next governor, rather than kow-towing to a bunch of self-serving politicians who would love the distraction of a resignation and the ensuing chaos that suits only their questionable purposes.
No, he was impeached for lying about his indiscretion under oath. Unfortauntely, the list of POTUSes that have indiscretions are a long as the day is long.President Clinton was impeached for cheating on his wife.
Bolded minePresident Clinton was impeached for cheating on his wife. Of course there was an issue about lying about it as most husbands would. This guy just took off and neglected his duties as Gov. and spent state funds to meet his mistress. I assume you supported the impeachment of Clinton. What's the difference?
