And then perhaps he will let us suffer several centuries in very bad conditions as punishment. Remember the sins of the fathers are visited on .............

Do you want to do that to your descendants?

My post was made in jest. I am quite sure most people would read it that way.

Sorry this is not about my interpretation but about what is clearly laid out in scrupture:

But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up.

God's coming will be unknown and catch men off guard. It will then be the time when the destruction comes. Not prior to. That passage gives no room for that. the chronology is Jesus comes, he destroys the old earth, and a new one will replace it. That all comes directly from His hands. It will not come because of how man treated the earth it will come because of the rebellion of man against God. Period.

Maybe He knew it would result from man-made mistakes. It does not say this is not true. The destruction may come because we are violating the laws of nature He established. Do you believe in the laws of nature that God established?

I believe the Bible. I do not believe many of your interpretations or you would not hold the views toward others that you write about on this BB.
You cannot say you believe the Bible when you deny so much of what it says. So stop. And I believe we are to be good stewards of the earth. That can be done without buying leftist lies and fact manipulation.

And it does not say that the warming and fire are not a result of man's foolish mistakes.

Really? :BangHead:

2 Peter 3:10-13 NAS77
10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up.
11 Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness,
12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, on account of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat!
13 But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.

I guess I'm a bit disappointed in your reply. Make that a lot disappointed. How could you reduce this promise of the ferocity of God's wrath to some sort of man-made catastrophe because we drive cars and burn coal?

Look at the OT and God's wrath on the sins of his people.

I see nothing in your scripture references that says why God will do this, or what will bring it about. The important thing is that He will do it.

I wish we humans would start being good stewards. We are not being good ones now. Look at WV on Google Earth and see what destruction man has brought about there.

I wish you would preach the bible and not secular humanism. Imagine te folks who would hear the real gospel if only those that confessed him truly believed him.

1) Asthma and respiratory ailments
Asthma is increasing across the U.S. Between 2001 and 2009, reports the Centers for Disease Control, the number of patients diagnosed with asthma rose by 4.3 million. Asthma is the leading cause of school absences, and of many work absences as well. Asthma attacks are often triggered by pollen. As it turns out, plants are starting their pollination season earlier, and it lasts longer. That doesn’t bode well for anyone who suffers from any number of respiratory ailments.

2) Allergies
In addition to asthma, the number of people suffering from hay fever and other pollen allergies is also on the rise. There are two reasons for this. First, the range where goldenrod and other plants that release heavy amounts of pollen is increasing as global warming makes parts of the country more hospitable to plants that used to be contained by colder temperatures. Second, as mentioned above, the sheer amount of pollen that plants are creating is increasing. Trees are the most common trigger for spring hay fever, reports the National Wildlife Federation. With spring arriving 10 to 14 days earlier than it did just 20 years ago, pollination is starting earlier. Hay fever is, too.

3) Heart disease and stroke
Extreme temperature changes, plus high particulate matter from burning coal and gasoline, can increase the risk for heart attack or stroke. The risk is particularly great if you live in an urban area with high levels of outdoor air pollution.

4) Poison ivy
Climate change is bad for you, but very good for poison ivy. As a result of higher global temperatures, poison ivy leaves are getting bigger, the vines are getting hairier and the oil in the leaves that makes you itch is getting more potent.

5) Dengue fever
As warmer bands of climate take hold, mosquitoes carrying dangerous dengue fever are moving north. Consequently, a disease that was once restricted to the tropics is starting to show up in the southern U.S. The Natural Resources Defense Council reports that two types of mosquitoes capable of transmitting dengue fever can now be found across at least 28 states.

6) Lyme disease
Diseases carried by ticks are spreading, as well, especially in the northeast. “In Maine, which had been considered less hospitable to ticks because of its colder climate, crews tapping maple trees are seeing more of them than ever,” Ted St. Amand, an entomologist and district manager for Atlantic Pest Solutions. “There never was much concern because deer tick was not that prevalent inland from the coast,” St. Amand said. “Now it’s everywhere.”

7) Other infectious diseases
Malaria and cholera are not big threats in the U.S., fortunately. But in the wake of extreme weather events, various waterborne pathogens can cause diarrhea and may contaminate water supplies. These pathogens reproduce more quickly in warmer conditions as well.

8) Heat stroke
Prolonged exposure to extreme heat can cause heat exhaustion, heat cramps, heat stroke and even death. Senior citizens may be particularly susceptible, particularly those who do not have air conditioning.

9) Mental health and stress
Extreme weather events like hurricanes and droughts are putting tremendous pressure on people, who worry about their basic survival. Stress, anxiety, depression, even post-traumatic stress disorder can occur when someone goes through a harrowing

You think like the world thinks. There is no difference. No faith, just a fearful loathing daily. You do not apply the bible to many subjects, and the words of Jesus are not on your heart. Else you would proclaim "Fear not, Jesus is Lord!" You preach the fear of a cursed world that is dying. Your solutions are man's and not God's. He is not on your lips very often. You do not understand why we get sick, so you echo men. Align your mind with the mind of Christ and be free from fear.

He will bring it about because He has promised to do so. Spend half as much time searching the Word for why God will destroy the earth as you do finding all these articles. You will find peace in the Word not speculative fear mongering. We are instructed to stand fast in His truth and not be carried away by these things "which the untaught and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction."

2 Peter 3:13-18 NAS77
13 But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.
14 Therefore, beloved, since you look for these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, spotless and blameless,
15 and regard the patience of our Lord to be salvation; just as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given him, wrote to you,
16 as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which the untaught and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction.
17 You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, be on your guard lest, being carried away by the error of unprincipled men, you fall from your own steadfastness,
18 but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.

Former Top NASA Scientist Predicts Catastrophic Rise In Sea Levels

One of the nation's most recognizable names in climate science, Dr. James Hansen, released a new paper this week warning that even 2 degrees Celsius of global warming may be "highly dangerous" for humanity.

The paper, which will be published online in the European Geosciences Union journal Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics Discussion later this week, projects sea levels rising as much as 10 feet in the next 50 years.

The paper notes there is evidence indicating that average temperatures just 1 degree Celsius warmer than today caused sea levels to rise 16 to 30 feet and fed extreme storms thousands of years ago.

Hansen and 16 co-authors drafted the paper as a message to policymakers that current greenhouse-gas reduction goals are not strong enough. World leaders have committed to limiting average warming to 2 degrees Celsius (3.6 degrees Fahrenheit), a goal articulated in the Copenhagen Accord in 2009 and reiterated by G7 leaders in June.

"The message for policymakers is that we have a global crisis that calls for international cooperation to reduce emissions as rapidly as practical," wrote the authors.

Their projections are based on an anticipated accelerated melting of ice sheets in Greenland and Antarctica due to rising atmospheric concentrations of heat-trapping greenhouse gases. The melting ice sheets will put more cold, fresh water into the oceans, changing circulation patterns and ultimately causing even more melting of the ice sheets -- thus causing sea levels to rise much, much faster than other projections have forecast.

"We conclude that continued high emissions will make multi-meter sea level rise practically unavoidable and likely to occur this century," the scientists wrote. "Social disruption and economic consequences of such large sea level rise could be devastating."

Of course he did. There are any number of extreme left wing organizations that need government grant money. If the money dried up so would these spurious claims.

Let us know when you stop flying by commercial jet then.

Perhaps if you practiced what you preach first people would be more inclined to hear you.

As it is you are quite Gore like.

Another aspect to chuck about would be, due to better health care, food etc the people who would have succumb to many ailments in the past are now surviving, so in a sense the genetic pool is "weaker" ( maybe?) and thus climatic ailments seem more and more prevalent.

Living in and around the Pasifika Nations, rising ocean levels ARE impacting on some islands with the resulting movement of population. This is not particularly devastating in the view that many young island people move to other areas in order to procure work, or in the case of some Island Nations having been devastated by mining ( as in the case of Nauru, being a mountain of super phosphate now reduced to the island rim being the only inhabitable area) .

Why is it that we are so fearful of global changes? After all the world is a living thing and so change is inevitable? Humans must adapt or perish....and we DO find change stressful on the whole.
