Deuteronomy 7:6 For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God: the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth... 12 Wherefore it shall come to pass, if ye hearken to these judgments, and keep, and do them, that the Lord thy God shall keep unto thee the covenant and the mercy which he sware unto thy fathers.

Nowhere are these "holy people" identified specifically as the biological descends of Abraham. They are identified in Exodus 12:38 as a mixed multitude. That would include Arabs and anyone else who followed Moses out of Egypt to escape slavery.

These people must keep and do God's word or judgement as a condition of a covenant relationship. The KJV uses the word "if" (v12) for a Hebrew word that actually means that these people do keep God's judgments. So, these people are identified as people who keep God's judgments. And, people who don't keep God's judgements are not included.

So then, God's people, according to the books of Moses, are not those descended from Abraham, but those who keep God's word.

Dispies cite this passage for their doctrine that unbelieving Jews(sic) are God's people. Are Dispies demonstrating a literal belief in the Bible?

Chosen for what? The blessing (Christ) would come through the descendants of Abraham, or chosen to belong to God as believers? Hebrews 11 tells us of those chosen and set aside (Saints) by faith.
