So why did they bypass the US Consulate in Ciudad Juarez and head to the border? Because...reasons?They were right outside El Paso, TX which is an official border crossing.

How did you figure that out? Citizens have the Constitutional authority to make citizens arrests. There need be no request from l.e. for them to act. I processed several people over the years who were detained and charged by "citizens arrest."
That's not required. All they have to do is request asylum at a crossing. So why did they bypass the US Consulate in Ciudad Juarez and head to the border? Because...reasons?

The govt often tries to convince us to give up our rights and intimidate us into not using them.A spokesman for New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham said state and local authorities are looking into the matter.
"They have absolutely not been authorized by our office or any other. We are actively working with the AG's Office, state police and local police to determine what has gone on and what can and will be done," said Tripp Stelnicki, a spokesman for the governor. "That migrant families might be menaced or threatened in any way, shape or form is completely unacceptable."
CBP says it doesn't condone civilians interfering in law enforcement matters Asked about the United Constitutional Patriots and the videos the group has posted online, a US Customs and Border Protection spokesman declined to comment on the group itself or the social media posts, but said the agency "does not endorse or condone private groups or organizations taking enforcement measures into their own hands."
"Interference by civilians in law enforcement matters could have public safety and legal consequences for all parties involved," the spokesman said in a written statement, referring those who suspect illegal activity to call 911 or contact the agency directly. "Border Security operations are complex and require highly trained professionals with adequate resources to protect the country."
The Border Patrol is calling the actions of this militia unwanted and illegal. The leader of this militia group has now been arrested.
So you don't believe in state's rights?
Read my post #20.Does Sunland Park, NM have a border crossing?
Why does this article (which does not appear supportive of the "militia") claim that these people were crossing illegally?

I have read it. I quoted it yesterday. It does not answer either of my questions.Read my post #20.
Most of these people have traveled hundreds of miles to get to the U.S. The distance from Guatemala to the closest border point is 1,500 miles. Do you really think 10 miles is a big deal to them?Sunland Park to El Paso is 8.4 miles, across a state line.
So they navigated across half the continent or more, and then missed Juarez (where there is a US Consulate) and El Paso (where the border crossing is) and ended up in Sunland Park? Lol...Most of these people have traveled hundreds of miles to get to the U.S. The distance from Guatemala to the closest border point is 1,500 miles. I'm being honest. I don't want open borders. I simply don't want Trump refusing to take immigrants legally applying for asylum and separating children from their parents. I also don't think 'Trump's wall" is the best way to secure our borders. It's just another thing he's focused on because he doesn't understand the real issues. Ask the local newspaper about their story or for once provide something of your own.So they navigated across half the continent or more, and then missed Juarez (where there is a US Consulate) and El Paso (where the border crossing is) and ended up in Sunland Park? Again, why would a local news article, that calls the actions of the "militia" ilegal, still refer to the people they detained as illegal immigrants?
Look, we can disagree about immigration policy in this country. If you want open borders, you have a right to your opinion. But lets at least be honest about what we're discussing.

No, it is dishonest spin. The truth is that these people have designs on America and are entering illegally. If they truly need asylum, they could and should apply much earlier.I'm being honest. The second amendment does not give anyone the right to take the law into their own hands. The FBI arrested the criminal leader of this militia and both the gov. and the Border Patrol said they are a hindrance to enforcing the law.No; however, exercising second amendment rights is not illegal but fundamental. It will have to be proven in court that these citizens were acting outside those constitutional rights, and it may have to be decided by the Supreme Court.
My initial guess is that they were acting within their own rights and in good faith. As has already been pointed out, the Anti-American Civil Liberties Union is hardly a go to for correct information or opinion. They are almost always on the wrong side.
Try to follow the statement made and what it entails. Your understanding is exactly backward. The US Constitution, including its amendments, are fundamental to all other laws of the land. If a law violates the constitution, then it is to be regarded as unconstitutional and therefore invalid. The second amendment does not give anyone the right to take the law into their own hands.
