I posted this elsewhere as a response to a member. I thought I should make a thread of it:

Can we not differ with others, even significantly, without being unkind to them? I know some of my responses have not been generous, but these have come as a result of an initiatory insult or attack from someone else. That is no excuse, I realize, but can we not initially respond or post in a humble and kind spirit instead of an antagonistic and hostile one? We are all in different places on our journeys. I think we would do well to remember that.

Do as I say and not as I do...and in the cases that I do it was some one else's fault because they did it to me first.

I print my name at the end of most of my posts.

It's a reminder to me that my words reflect who I am.

Sure, I get irritated with people or posts at times...

...but if I sign my name to my response I'm a bit more cautious and less likely to flame out at that person [and when that fails the short chance we get to edit posts works wonders].

I've changed my position on enough topics that I know that walking 'the path of change' takes time and patience.

Interestingly enough I thought that as I aged that changing my views and opinions would become increasingly difficult
...however I've found myself becoming more accepting of other peoples opinions and more open to change.

I guess the Lord's getting me ready for the generous change awaiting me when he calls. :saint:

Well, I guess I can add you to the list. Congratulations!

Did you all take a course in how to be a jackass, or does it just come naturally?

I've been on here a long time and don't post as much as I used to. The reason why is I didn't like who I was becoming on here. I found myself trying to seek revenge on others by my posts. Not a Christianly attitude. Plus I have seen some very ungodly things said towards each other and many times over non-essential matters or doctrines.

The problem I feel lies in social media like chat rooms and Twitter and FB. It is so easy to be bold and in your face with a keyboard rather than being F2F instead. Also I have noticed most anyone under the age of 40 has a real tough time with embellishing on social media. Seems like we all have alter egos in here and sadly they aren't very Christ like. Maybe we should all go back a few years and repeat the WWJD thingy.

Can you see the irony here?

Can you see the irony here?

Not only irony, but this is an actual tactic of all false teachers to silence those who expose and condemn their heresies and properly "mark" them (Rom. 16:17).

Such are teachers of sloppy agape and are ignorant of the Scriptures. The Scriptures clearly command Christians how to deal with those hardened in damnable heresies (Rom. 16:17). Paul calls such "dogs" and "accursed" while Jesus called them "vipers" and "two fold more children of hell." John said they had not God (2 Jn. 9-11).

Jesus, Paul and John were not speaking about sincere seekers of truth who have been led astray, but they were talking about those HARDENED in their damnable errors and who "sit in the seat of the scorner" of essential truths. As far as I am concerned we have such on this forum. They deny the deity of Christ, the Trinune nature of God, justification by grace without works, the eternal existence of the soul and other damnable errors.

Such are damnable errors as one cannot have "eternal life" and deny the true God (Jn. 17:3). One cannot deny either the humanity or diety of Christ and be of God but are of Antichrist (1 Jn. 4:2-4; 2 Jn. 9-11). One cannot deny justification without works without being "accursed" (Gal. 1:8-9).

Paul commanded his readers to "mark" such (Rom. 16:17). However, these are the very ones that use "love" as a weapon to defend themselves against those who would "mark" them as commanded by the Apostle.

Perhaps such advocates of sloppy agape should rebuke Christ and the Apostles for not only leaving what they regard as bad examples of unloving words toward false teachers, but perhaps they should rebuke them for leaving such commands to deal with false teachers since such commands does not measure up to their standard of "love"????

Yeah, and you're one of the biggest hypocrites on here.

You mean you think you had a lot of it right

If you don't stop falsely accusing me, I'm going to try to do something about it. You may claim to be a minister, but you're not. You're a black-hearted liar.

I told you before DHK knows about me.

I also find the ones who complain about it the most are also the first to join in when it happens.

Yeah, and you're one of the biggest hypocrites on here.

And yet you are the one that created a thread saying we should be nicer to each other and then proceeded to post these gems in that same thread:

The problem with this is that you are often wrong although you don't realize it. You think you are doing God's bidding according to His word and you are not. Therefore, when you rebuke someone you are really imitating "Life" in Shakespeare's Macbeth. I believe you are a pastor but I don't see how you keep a church if you talk to your members like you address people here.

I will give you credit for this, you tend to stay on topic better than most here. You actually address issues rather than just talking by others with whom you disagree and throwing out innuendo. Although you have a strange view of scripture, you do know how to quote it to suit your purpose.

And point out to me where I initiated insults or attacks. You cannot. I will defend myself. I will not just take it and remain silent.

There are lots of little infallible Baptist popes on here, and they don't like to be challenged. When they are, that's when the word "heretic" begins to be thrown around, among other charges.

The point is that if you are ready to throw around insults (which it sounds like you are), then put on your big boy pants and stop saying "can't we all just get along". If, however, you truly mean what you say, then you would treat others how you wish to be treated and not "stoop" to their level.

There's a difference between defending yourself and making comments like:

Did you all take a course in how to be a jackass, or does it just come naturally?
