This is what happens when you watch too much television.

Exactly. Cop shows and shoot em up flicks have taken over the mind and people are ruled by fear and vain imaginations of "what if?", instead of focusing on Jesus and the protection He gives. Just like the world.

Jesus needs a backup? No, you don"t trust in Him. "They overcame by the blood, their testimonies, and they did not love their lives even unto death." You have the first two.

I didn't say "Jesus needs a back up".

But I will say this, if those folks in SC that put their trust in Jesus' protection and their pastor's wisdom were accompanied by Smith & Wesson more of them might still be around today.

...instead of focusing on Jesus and the protection He gives.

One thing Jesus has shown is that he is not going to 'protect' me. At least 8 broken bones, 3 hip surgeries, house broken into, car broken into, 3 wrecks resulting ininjuries...

Do you trust Jesus or the locks on the doors of your house?
Do you trust Jesus or the seatbelts in your vehicle? Or its brakes?
Do you trust Jesus or your insurance?
Do you trust Jesus or your savings and income?
Do you trust Jesus or your doctor?
Do you trust Jesus or your fire department?

He will not answer.

Agree.

I would say that these poor folks put too much trust for their protection in the policies of man. Gun-Free Zones are a false hope.

Mass Shooting, Mass Hysteria, Mass Propaganda

June 19, 2015 (Tony Cartalucci - LD) - Nine lives were ended in a tragic mass shooting at a historic church in Charleston South Carolina, perpetrated by a deranged, apparently brainwashed 21 year old man whose motivations appear to be centered around extreme racism.

In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, a familiar, shameful charade of exploitation unfolded yet again, seeking to reassert the "gun control" agenda amid both national public opinion and across America's legislative bodies.

Yet the engineered, concerted, deceitful propaganda campaign launched by the corporate media and America's political circles fails to put into perspective the recent shooting and the greater "gun control" debate.

Instead, a mad rush has ensued to exploit anger, sorrow, and fear to once again attempt to snatch from responsible Americans their right to bear arms based on the criminal actions of a single individual.

Revolt: Millions of N.Y. Gun Owners Refuse to Register Firearms

Only around 24,000 New Yorkers, many of them cops, complied with gun control law

Millions of New York gun owners refused to register their firearms to comply with the draconian N.Y. SAFE Act.

So far only around 24,000 gun owners, many of them cops, registered their semiautomatic rifles with the state, meaning that the law has effectively been repealed through civil disobedience.

He said to them, "But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.

Luke 22:36

Sounds to me like I'm being told that dying a preventable death is the only way to prove I trust in Jesus' protection.

I suppose I could stop taking my blood pressure pills and do my stretching exercises in the middle of the highway to prove my faith.

Typical leftist coward.

He is trusting that an answer will be miraculously provided.

I made the comment in another thread that crime is nearly nonexistent where I live. The majority of the homes also contain firearms. Many have CC permits. Seems to work here. Even the local elderly ladies can take their walks at night.

You are using Luke 22:36 out of context. To use this single verse as a foundation to warrant violent defense is either out of ignorance, fear, or deceit. I do not believe any of you are deceitful. Jesus taught non violence for 3 years. Jesus said not to fear continually. In context and in the situation they were in, the verses fulfilled prophecy and was in no way a literal reversal of what He taught them prior. His words and instructions before and after this "buy two swords" statement would be contradicting and therefore requires a deeper study to understand how it all fits together perfectly. To use Luke 22:36 as a single instruction is sophomoric at best, and reveals a heart and mind still clinging to the sinful, self centered, worldly nature.

What do you think that purpose for the sword was? Slicing really big tomatoes?

Do police officers who follow Christ show a lack of faith when they arm themselves?
