A tale of two cit-- er, Speakers

Yesterday I saw a TV ad featuring Speakers Pelosi & Gingrich.

They were together on a bench as Pelosi made a comment as to the political differences between the two. Gingrich then agreed, but noted that there IS a point on which they can unite -- GLOBAL WARMING!!!

The consensus was that the Ds & Rs can work in harmony to solve this "major problem".

I used to think that there was some glimmer of hope that the R party could rebuild and become a strong positive force in todays society, but that idea was shot down by this apparent merger with the liberals. :tear:

This should be a wake up call for all the folks who fell in love with Gingrich during the Clinton scandal. Another politician who cares more about votes than doing the right thing. Pelosi has always been a dangerous person, and America should collectively shudder that she is # 3 in charge.

...isn't she the one that basically refers to it as a religion of sorts, saying we need to "put faith" into the cause and those for it...or something along those lines? I vaguely recall some comments by her of that nature.

What's a "cit--er" , BTW?

The thing I find funny is the statement they are "coming together to meet"...Pelosi didn't have to move a bit.

I really don't cafe what one personally thinks of Rep. and Speaker Newt Gingrich, and he is no doubt a political figure.

However, the last time I checked, he was not currently a candidate for anything, nor was he intending to run again for office, so I would say that your characterization of him as "Another politician who cares more about votes than doing the right thing" is far more of an expression of your personal disagreement with his statement (or position, as the case nmay be) than any hint of objective judgment.

One might legitimately suggest this characterization of Speaker Nancy Pelosi. and/or Majority Leader Stenny Hoyer, and/or Minority Leader John Boehner, among hundreds of others, but it is not a legitimate description of any non-candidate or someone who is not planning to be a candidate again, such as Speaker Denny Hastert, Speaker Newt Gingrich, Speaker Tom Foley, or Speaker Jim Wright, to name the four living former speakers, at least where the individuals themselves are concerned.

It is perfectly fine to shudder at the prospect of any and all who could potentially "be in charge" of the 'gubmint', however.

BTW, "Who is in charge, here?" (Sec'y Alexander Haig's opinion doesn't count!) :D

I ain't really been all that sure of this one for 20 years! :confused:

I ain't even sure of who's been in charge of the House since Carl Albert and Tip O'Neill were the Speakers! That was over 20 years ago.

And while some such as Bob Dole, George Mitchell, Harry Reid and Mitch McConnell have all had a monent or two of influence, I'm pretty sure that the last duo to really be in charge of the Senate was over 35 years ago when Mike Mansfield and Everett Dirksen ran the show.

That is one of many commercials Al Gore is producing. He is spending millions to back his phoney message so he won't be found out to be a phoney. Guess he doesn't know he's too late. :thumbs:

I love it!!!

I abhor Gore's message so much, I am boycotting anything that advertises it is a "green" product! I'll pay more to avoid "green!!"

I live in a coal producing state... and it will be interesting to see the liberals trying to get WVians votes....

Gore is losing the WV to the republicans with all his nonsense.

BTW, I just got back from the Ron Paul campaign stop here in town. he allowed the press in, which is something Al Gore won't do when he speaks. He allowed questions that weren't screened, too. Why won't Al Gore follow the good Dr.'s example, and open his theories to good public scrutiny, you know, questions that Joe Flyovercountry would ask......
