Last night I had the most terrible dream. I had been in and out of heavy sleep for most of the night, waking up after some serious dreams with none of them out of the ordinary. Finally this particular dream happened. It consisted of me being in some place with the most hideous of creatures with weird stuff happening and it was all very disturbing.

It got to a point that I felt these creatures were demonic in nature (as I am in the dream) and I was very afraid. So afraid that I woke myself up and sat on the edge of my bed. I picked up my Bible, held it to my forehead and prayed fervently to God to protect me and to not let this type of dream bother me during the rest of the night. I then placed my Bible under my pillow and laid back down to a more restful sleep minus any likewise dream for the rest of the night. I tell you, I was some scared. I wonder, has something similar ever happened to anyone else here at BB?

I also saw some terrible dreams and sometimes had nightmares, but very rare and only few, most of my dreams can be classified as: weird, bizarre, strange, interesting, good, pleasant, wonderful, marvelous, and fantastic!

Yes, I see dreams every night, sometimes one, sometimes two, and sometimes more, full array! Sometimes I see continuation of the previous dream, and sometimes a similar or identical dream.

Dreams sometimes in the Bible called as vision, and quite number of people in the Bible saw GOD Himself in their dreams. Angels also appeared in the dreams of men, and sometimes dreams looks logical but required interpretation.

Just recently some woman I knew told me that she saw me in the dream, and the dream was bad. She did not tell exactly what the dream was about, and I did not ask, because no matter what I saw or someone else saw in the dream, not all dreams are telling the truth. But she gave me a warning to be careful.

But you did right, prayer to GOD definitely can help, and no matter what the dreams are, always rely upon GOD for support and protection.

Daniel 4.4-5
4."I Nebuchadnezzar, was at ease in my house and flourishing in my palace.
5.I saw a dream and it made me fearful, and these fantasies as I lay on my bed, and the vision in my mind kept alarming me."

Joel 2.28-29

Prophesy concerning future of Israel.

28."And it will come about after this, that I will pour out My Spirit on all mankind, and your sons and daughters will prophesy (Exodus 15.20) (Judges 4.4) (Acts 21.9), your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions,
29.and even on the male and female servants I will pour out My Spirit in those days." (Isaiah 44.3)

Ecclesiastes 5.7

7.In many dreams and in many words there is emptiness, rather fear GOD. (KSB)

There have been times when I would reach out to God in prayer, during a bad dream and the threat would flee. I would feel instantly calm afterward.

Have you ever experienced sleep paralysis while trying to awaken from a bad dream? There have been times when my eyes would be open but my brain would still be cranking out images. I would be immobile, trying to rouse but pinned to the mattress, not even able to yell for my wife to get up and shake me. It doesn't happen often and I am glad it doesn't.

My mom said I used to sleep walk, back when I was a chittlen.

Hi Roy, you just pointed out exactly that sometimes happening and to me. Sometimes I see something very threatening in the dream, and I try to run from it, but I run like in very slow motion, I try very hard to run as fast as I could, but instead hardly move an inch! And I looking back, and this thing approaching me but I can't run any faster.

And the funny thing, sometimes I knew I am dreaming and if something horrifies me I trying to wakeup myself, but I couldn't. Actually I do not fill my body at all in such moments, I am present in the scene but not in the body. Because I already knew it is a dream, I try to roll over myself so I would wakeup, and usually after some struggle succeed.

Concerning Salty's experience, I have it too. I was in the Army 1972-1974 (not US army), worst experience in my life. When I came home I often saw dreams related to my service for many years to come.

And some dreams were so real that in the dream I asked myself a question, "Hold on a minute Alex, you already done your serves and returned home years ago, how come your are still here?"

Waking up after such dreams completely freak me out. These dream are very rare now, they may come once in the while but are not threatening and scary as before.

But at least I started understand better what means out of body experience.

Hey Alex. It is my understanding that God wired our brains in such a way that our bodies would be immobilized during dreams in order to prevent thrashing which could cause injury. I think that in a dream, when you can't seem to react quickly to a threat, it is because of the immobilizing feature. Many times, it will malfunction, like it did with my mom a few years back. She had a nightmare and began screaming and thrashing, and she hit the bed's headboard. She broke her hand when she did that.

By the way, I was in the U.S. Army, 1972-1975. Which Army were you in?

I have had the opposite. I dreamed Christ came and we were united with Him. I can't remember any the details, just the feelings. It was one of those dreams where you wake up and try to go back to sleep to continue the dream (but that never works). So you wake up and the memory quickly fades.

There are things that will bring me back to the Balkans (just a feeling). When it's cool outside and I smell coal burning (like on a grill) I have to check my anxiety (In the winter they burned coal for heat and it brings back those feelings....some good, some not so good). But that's something entirely different.

Yes Roy you are right, blocking human body from any movement during dreams certainly can prevent it from injuries.

The army I served was USSR army.

I immigrated to US in autumn of 1979.

If I remember right USSR invaded Afghanistan in 1980.

I was lucky not to be involved in that war, while I already was 25 years old, they could easily put me in reserve.

JonC, I also had number of fantastic dream, but never about Christ or GOD in general, but my dream were of different sorts and some of them are absolutely astonishing and extremely splendid.

And this is one of them.

I was standing in the dark room with the window on the left. Outside a beautiful night, sky is dark violet color. I came closer to window to look outside and saw many star on the night sky.

The color of the night sky was amazingly beautiful, never seen such color before and contrast and the clarity of the dream was not earthly, everything in that dream was so crystal clear.

And when I came closer to a window and look though at the night sky I saw a shooting star, and I thought, "Oh, how lucky I am to see a shooting star." And I moved my eyes to another portion of the sky, and as soon as I did it, there was another shooting star. So I thought again how lucky I am and this time.

So I moved my eyes on the other portion of the sky, and again saw another shooting star. After that I realized that each time I moved my eyes on the sky, that particular place produces a shooting star!

Where had been many other wonderful dreams, but this one was the best of them all, in colors, in clarity, and in vision, that was true the vision of the night.

I also had a dream of nostalgia, in which I saw Moscow's streets. I was born in Moscow and for me impossible to forget the town. Yes, and smells too make me nostalgic. If something smells like spring in Moscow, or clouds look like clouds in Russia, or rain, or sunlight, or anything else, it immediately reminds me of that beautiful town, my far away home.

Sometimes after nostalgic dream I for while seat on the bed until this heavy nostalgic feeling go away, but sometimes it does not, and I carried it for about couple of hours until it finally disappears.

I actually dreamed of heaven. One time, I truly remember thinking I have died and gone there

It was an amazing dream

Yes. I had demonic entities attack and choke me in my sleep for many years.
