WIth God, all things are possible. In a marrage, the difficult we do right away, but the impossile just takes a little longer.

My wife and I have been married for 6 wonderful years, and it's never been an issue. When we have disgreement, we discuss and pray about it until we are in agreement. As the head of my marriage, I never make a decision that will affect the household unless we are in agreement.

It's a blessing to be sure, but it's not so simple for everyone. Sometimes the status quo is no longer an option.

Give me an example where it wouldn't be an option.

I think I did in another thread but I'll try to be simpler. You're house burns to the ground. You have to move. She wants Maple St. and you want Fir St. (and feel strongly that it's where God wants you) Where do you move? Or do you pitch a tent on the ashes til you agree?

That's not difficult at all. You move to neither Maple nor Fir. You keep looking for a property that both of you agree on.

If I'm in error, then I'll apologize. It's been my experience that when IFB men come here and start nit picking women for their "place," their clothing, or their decisions to work outside the home or not, the poster is usually a troll, or at least an arrogant hypocrite.

Again, if I'm wrong, I'm sorry. I do hope you'll post about other things besides what other people's wives should or should not be doing.

You may be right, I don't know. But those you are speaking about do not understand or do not read the verses after "wives submit to your husbands." The husband is called on to love his wife as Christ loved the church. This means he will set his wishes aside and do that which is best for the family and his wife. The demand on the husband is very great in this regard.

I wouldn't draw a line between Christ's wishes and what's best for you and your family.

In the mean time, you work on coming to agreement.

If you can't figure that out with your spouse, that you've got bigger issues in your marriage that have nothing to do with loving and submitting.

    On the roof.

    Proverbs 21:9
    (9) It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.

But I'm asking you. You seem to imply that there's no situation where action is needed before you can come together. You're right though that I do have bigger problems, and I pray for my family constantly. Thanks.

A wife is to submit to her husband, which means to obey him and help him in his life's work. It does not mean mutual submission. The biggest help she can be is to guide his house, keep it orderly, his children educated and provided for, and to lift him up ceaselessly in prayer.

A wife is to do her husband good all the days of her life.

How did Christ show his love for the church? Did he do what he wanted or what God asked him to do?

Including giving his life for his wife, if necessary.

That's not what it means. That's a perversion of scripture.
