Abilene Christian University Says Students Who Dine at Hooters Could Be Punished - Breitbart

Abilene Christian University has instituted a policy which could result in disciplinary measures against any student who works or even dines at Hooters.

The school, which is affiliated with the Churches of Christ, vaguely suggested that students who work or dine at an upcoming Hooters location near campus could be punished under student handbook guidelines. When asked if a female student could be expelled for donning Hooter’s orange and white uniform at the new location, a spokesperson for the university said that “all situations would be handled case-by-case.”

A similarly vague approach would be taken with regards to handling male students who choose to dine at Hooters.

Dine or work - you are gone
Amen Salty. Remember SBC bigwig Dr. Frank Harber? Hooters was a factor in his downfall:

archive.localnewsonly.com/2007LNO/news/december2007/07_12_30harber.htm

"While still pastor at the Colleyville First Baptist Church, LNO reported...his participation in the Hooter's Buffalo Run Casino Classic Golf Tournament."

"The caller described what he felt was a bizarre conversation with Harber upon finding that the two were to play together....'When I met the man I introduced myself and attempted conversation,' said the caller, who is a stock broker. 'At one point I asked him what he did for a living and Harber responded by saying 'I can't tell you,' I thought he was joking.' The caller went on to explain that Harber said no, he was not kidding and that, 'I promised by wife I would not tell anyone what I do'."

"The broker went on to say the remainder of the tournament Harber said few words....'When I got back to my hotel room, I told my buddies about the strange individual I played 18 round of golf and we decided to 'Google' him'....'I can tell you one thing, he did not witness to me in 5 hours on the golf course'."
__________

Harber had been a rising star in the SBC, a professor of evangelism at SWBTS. He was chairman of the Resolutions Committee of the 2002 Southern Baptist Convention which had put forth a resolution on sexual integrity in the clergy which "not only encouraged lives of 'integrity and fidelity' among Southern Baptists, but it urged accountability by spiritual leaders to the 'highest standards of Christian moral practice'":

Baptist Press - 2002 SBC Resolutions
The resolution is a "message to ourselves among our own ranks to have the highest standards of integrity, accountability," Harber said. The committee and messengers wanted Southern Baptist clergy to know they are expected "to hold to these standards," said Harber, pastor of First Baptist Church of Colleyville, Texas.

I would think that having to eat at Hooters would be punishment enough. The food there is awful.

It's a private Christian college, so I think they should be able to make whatever rules they want. But the truth is, what Hooters' girls wear is no worse than what I see girls around here wear everyday.

Drive by the ACU campus in summertime and you'll see many women dressed about the same.

Literally, the only thing I know about Abilene Christian is that Wilbert Montgomery went there.

As an aside, George Hamilton IV's song, "Abilene" was the first song I ever learned to play on guitar.

I fully agree - but if the college does not take action - then I would no longer support that school (If I was) and would never recommend the school to other - and I would have no problem explaining why I would not support theme.

Yeah. Hooters may have been risque in 1980. By today's standards, the waitresses are over dressed.

Go watch an old episode of CHIPS. They weren't even risqué by 1980 standards.

Suzanne Sommers used to wear shorter shorts and tighter tops every week.

I remember telling my old girlfriend back in 1989 or 90 that the Hooters in Philadelphia hired me to play one weekend. It was actually kind of cool, as it was located on an old, refurbished ferry boat on the Delaware river and she lost her mind. To be honest, I was more interested in the fact that it was on a boat than I was about the girls, but she honestly thought it was some kind of strip club. As it turned out, I told them no, because they wouldn't pay me in cash and I didn't want to pay the Philly wage tax, but she was madder than a wet hen.

But the outfits really aren't nearly as skimpy as what most young girls wear on the street and the food is terrible.

I don't think that anyone should be dining at Hooters because of its objectification of women; however, creating a rule about such a thing is nothing less than modern-day Phariseeism. It does not produce righteousness, only self-righteousness.

Is it that the school making a rule against such behaviour - or is it the school having standards - that the vast majority of students can be proud of?

Does the school have standards against girls wearing short shorts in general, or just in restaurants?

If so, fine. If not, why the double standard?

Have you ever read the student handbook at Pensacola Christian College? It's like North Korea. Male and female students literally are not even allowed to walk on the same side of the street.

If a standard against girls wearing shorts is good, then why not bat excrement crazy regulations like PCC?

I don't think Hooters objectifies women anymore than any other place.

The girls at Duffy's show a lot more cleavage and it's considered t be a good, family restaurant.

The food at the restaurants around here(Ga, Sc) is excellent.
