About the United Pentecostal Church, Inc (a split off of the AOG)

"UPCI also believe that speaking in tongues are evidence of the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and thereby one cannot be saved without speaking in tongues. Holiness is not the result of some act subsequent to salvation, but should be the norm at the moment of salvation for every Christian. This is the diabolic heresy of Lordship Salvation."

United Pentecostal Churches teach that water baptism is necessary to get to Heaven. This differs in teaching from other Pentecostal/Holiness Churches. Their mode of baptism must be by immersion and the "formula" (as they call it) must be "in Jesus' Name" only; not "in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost" of Matthew 28:19. They also attempt to use 1st Peter 3:21 to mandate baptism for salvation, "The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ." Lutherans pervert the Gospel by using this same Scripture.

So if they believe you must speak in tongues and be water baptisted -to be saved -
are they truly saved?

So my question in the OP:

Since one is not saved by works, I is possible for God to save some. Since they are trusting in their work I honestly couldn't say any of them were yet saved. Add do to the fact the Trinity of the distinct Persons are denied it is doubtful per 2 John 1:9. Jesus only Modalism. Jesus is God the Father in their view. I am not making this up.

Guess it depends on if they are elect or not.

They are wrong. Being “wring” doesn’t necessarily mean unsaved. Apollos was wrong about baptism but certainly seemed to be a Christian according to scripture.

I hesitate to declare anyone saved or unsaved. If they are in a right relationship with God (saved), then Holy Spirit indwells and will guide them into all truth.

peace to you

No, as their Jesus is not the One of bible, nor is their gospel, as its saved by grace and many good works!

And Modualism is a heresy view regarding the nature of God

Apollos did not know the real Jesus and gospel, but that if different case, as he turned to real Jesus once exposed, but those immersed in Oneness just as lost as those in lds and JW!

Interesting. According to Acts, the error of Apollos concerned baptism, not Jesus or the gospel.

Do you have any reference that he erred on the person and work of Jesus?

peace to you

That He knew on the baptism of John would seem to be indicating that he did not know that Jesus died and rose again, and that we now have the full gospel to present, as not just messiah was to come, but that he actually now had come and did his saving work!

John proclaimed Jesus to be the Messiah revealed in the OT prophecies. The suffering and death, and resurrection of the Messiah was part of that prophecy. He also proclaimed Jesus would take away the sin of the world.

I think you are going well beyond scripture to suppose Apollos didn’t know the “real Jesus”.

peace to you
