I am sorry, Brutus, but you must understand:
Wisdom Seeker has been harassed by certain
people (not you, I am sure), and she had to turn her

friends. She has also been going through some
personal stuff, and this just is not a good time to
persist in trying to push her around. I hope you
take this in the rght way, but I ask you: Please use

Abiyah: Thanks for the heads up! By the way, I'm not trying to push her around,I just thought that she might have thought that I was trying to challenge her. Which is not at all what I was doing.I just wanted her to clarify what she meant,that's all,nothing more nothing less.
Well, I may very well do that. It's time for a real reform movement in the SBC. I believe that the Fundamentalists now in control are really the minority.]Ralph - Still bitter about the changes in the SBC hunh? Well here's what you can do about it. Get all your friends and show up at the convention this year in Arizona and vote.
Last time I checked we Southern Baptists were still doing business in the SBC the way we've always done it. Democratic vote, majority wins.
Why is it the Minority always whines instead of pitching in and working?

I (respectfully) don't agree with Refreshed on all points. Of the four Baptist groups he broke out, I fall into group 2, "Conservative Southern Baptists." It may be worth noting that the more liberal southern baptists are tending to cut ties with the SBC in favor of the CBF and other bodies.
As for myself, I can only relate my own experience in conservative Southern Baptist churches.
Innerancy of the Bible - Agree with above post.
Bible Versions - Agree with above post.
Separation from the World - Agree with above post, but with reservations. It may have been Jason's experience that it was not addressed in fellowships he knows of, but it is addressed in every Southern Baptist fellowship I've been involved in. Perhaps it's a different way of looking at it. We would never turn away the visitor that come dressed in an inappropriate manner; introducing her or him to the "rules" before we introduce them to the Savior.
As for discipleship after a saving knowledge of Christ, I think many churches (including some I've been in) lack in these areas of church discipline.
Church Service - Agree with above post, but let me explain: There is a group called the nominating committee that reviews the needs in the church and formally asks an individual or group to take on a certain task (Sunday School, Ushering, Building, whatever). Ideally, that person prays about it for God's direction.
Music - Agree with above post.
Frequency of Service - For conservative Southern Baptists, we need to add a few things. These will vary, depending on the congregation. There are normally several home Bible studies going on throughout the week in a healthy congregation. Visitation and door-to-door visits occur on a weekly basis in my present church. Special youth services and children's programs occur in addition to regular preaching services on Sunday night - this is not mere entertainment, but an earnest effort to bring the gospel to young folks.
Soul-winning - Completely and utterly disagree with Jason on this one. Again, this may have been an unfortunate experience in a congregation that he knows of, but evangelism is a primary concern at my church. Unfortunately, it doesn't take a particular sect of Baptists to be disobedient. There are some fellowships in any of the four groups that are not witnessing to the communities around them. As for my present congregation, please see the details in "Frequency of Services" above. I wouldn't join with a body of believers unless they believed in soul-winning - and actually making the effort!
