For clarification, are you saying that Marc Driscoll isn't a follower of Christ?
I can surely see why you would want clarification! I didn't word that as well as I should or could have.
To answer your question, I do not know the man's heart and whether he is saved. Even so, from what I've read on Mark, and it is a lot, especially the things that come from his mouth and out of his mind and unto paper, the man has fallen away from whatever he once may, or may not have had with God. It is clear he is not preaching a sound doctrine.
In comparision, even in my darkest days, the days where I had walked away from the ministry and tried to leave God behind me, I never proclaimed the things this man has proclaimed, in the name of God!
So, while only God knows Mark's true heart of hearts, the facts are if he doesn't repent of the poor witness from the words he has proclaimed in the name of God, he will, in fact, face much worse things than the judgement of the board members at Acts 29.
If Mark was saved, it is my belief that he will inherit the Kingdom of God. In fact his ability to mix the holy with the profane is simialr to the church mentioned in Revelation 2:18-29, as follows -
“And to the angel of the church in Thyatira write, These things says the Son of God, who has eyes like a flame of fire, and His feet like fine brass: 19 “I know your works, love, service, faith, and your patience; and as for your works, the last are more than the first. 20 Nevertheless I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce My servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols. 21 And I gave her time to repent of her sexual immorality, and she did not repent. 22 Indeed I will cast her into a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of their deeds. 23 I will kill her children with death, and all the churches shall know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts. And I will give to each one of you according to your works.
24 “Now to you I say, and to the rest in Thyatira, as many as do not have this doctrine, who have not known the depths of Satan, as they say, I will put on you no other burden. 25 But hold fast what you have till I come. 26 And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations—
27 ‘He shall rule them with a rod of iron;
They shall be dashed to pieces like the potter’s vessels’—
as I also have received from My Father; 28 and I will give him the morning star.
29 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”’
If he is saved,
and at the present time he surely does not appear to be preaching a Gospel that glorifies God but rather eroticism - and that is not only my opinion, but the opinion of men closer to Mark than you and I could ever hope to be - then he has some serious repenting to do, and a whole lot of misinformation to fix in order to help those under his preaching, to see that they were misled and not fed the sound Word of God!
He can fix his mistakes, but it is up to him to do. And like I said, I do not even pretend to know the man, so all I can do is look at what he has been disseminating as Gospel truth, and say it is a gross misinterpretation of the truth as we know it to be!
Sorry for the long answer, but I didn't want you to read between the lines and twist what I said around! I have come to know you too well. In fact, I pondered ignoring your question, but in good faith, I answered, and I hope you are satisfied! If not, there is nothing I can do! :BangHead:
