Just to stir up the muddy water and make it even murkier
Do we get 'assigned' to the man or woman that God intended for us to marry? Chances are some of people have married the wrong spouse contrary to God's guidance/plan. Just as Adam had one specific woman created specifically for him so does this mean we all have a saved spouse that we will finally be together with?

Why would you conclude that God's creation of Adam or Eve was an earthly purpose only and not a means of proper fellowship with God? I meant 'assignment' as Adam and Eve were designed to each other...without using our human term of 'marriage'. I really could care less about being married in heaven but was just adding to the discussion but thanks for making your opinion above mine

It is my belief that if man would not go chasing after a woman, or woman after a man, that God will put one in the man's path for him for the purpose of marriage.
God did not create Eve and tell Adam, 'There's a woman wandering around out there, go get her.' No, He brought the woman to the man.

In the resurrection/MK, we neither marry or given in marriage and we will remember this earth, but after the MK/GWT and on the New earth, all "former things" will be erased from our memory.

As part of our "conforming to Jesus's image", who was with God from the beginning, for all we'll know, we too were with God from the beginning.

You should qualify your terms better. If God meant for men and women to have assigned partners in heaven (but not in the marriage sense), then all Christians would have those earthly relationships. But the fact is, we don't. Mormon's think like that. I'm not accusing you of Mormonism, but that is what happens with speculation. I am content with the fact that we are not married in heaven. If sex is missing, it will not be missed, something that gives us just as much pleasure and joy (at least!) will be there in its place. If it is still there, I'm not going to argue with God that it should not be there. PastorSBC1303 is right. We'll have to wait and see.
But here's a hint! Sex is tied to procreation here on earth and in heaven we will not be involved in physical procreation, instead we will be immortal with no need to have replacements.

Misinterpretation. Matthew Henry's insight into this passage is worth considering:
The Messiah's kingdom will continue to grow until the final saint is called. Once that happens His kingdom will be perfected (made complete). There will be no one added to the Kingdom duing the eternal state.

I don't see sex in heaven, for this reason...
In heaven there is no marrying, nor giving in marriage. We know sex outside of marriage is adultery, so it stands to reason there will be no sex in heaven.
Something else to consider...
The church, is the Bride of Christ. In Him, there is no male, no female. We will be one with Him.

I know this is going to surprize you SFIC, but I am in total agreement with you.
Going back to the Scripture beside what has been given from Genesis, we have Jesus' word quoted earlier in this thread, "we will be as the angels". The angels do not have sexual relations with each other. Our sexuality is a gift from God for this period of time, as we are flesh and blood. So Adam and Eve before the fall were flesh and blood. Paul says flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of Heaven. What we are now will be changed and we will not be in these bodies nor have the God given desires of these bodies. What we will have for eternity will be so much better.

I'm not talking about marriage the term as we understand it nor am I talking about some "mormonism reward"...just added a non-theological additional point to a discussion that if we are to have companionship/helpmate like Adam/Eve then it would be interesting if that relationship was the mate that God had 'designed' specifically for you. Is this biblical? No! Is it unbiblical? No! So is it extra-biblical? Yes but only in the context of this silly topic...I'm not trying to start an occult or repopulate my corner Texas or South America...whatever!! I'm happily married to a Christian woman but am I married to the woman I should have married if I had stayed within the Lord's will? In heaven being perfect if marriage was to be present would I be with the one I had on earth or with the one God designed for me? as long as we are not quarrelsome. While I've never had a discussion like this before...I've run into some doozies and just wanted to play devil's advocate and add an alternative view. I personally don't think that in heaven we will care about marriage or need other companionship other than Jesus.
Could I just add that I am not sure this whole discussion is a foolish one. I live in a State where there are many, many mormons. The mormons now number 15 million world-wide. It is the basic premise of their temple ceremony that in heaven they will continue to procreate and that physical sex will be apart of that realm. People are trusting their eternity to these teachings. It is a real topic that affects many today. Just a thought before we toss it aside as foolish and meaningless.
