Here we are in the Christmas Season

Does your church utilize Advent as part of the worship during this season.

Are there special traditions you honor

Do you have a Christmas Tree in the sanctuary or elsewhere in the church

Will you be having a Christmas play and/or cantata?

Are there other activities you may have or would not have.

Will Santa Clause be in any part of your church

and!
How do you deal with Santa Clause with your kids or Grandkids.?

Any other comments?

Not really, other than the annual Couples and Single Adults breakfasts.

Yes, in the church Parlor.

Have neither. But if we did we'd pretty much ignore him.

Yes. Every year our pastor puts a lot of emphasis on Advent. A different family lights one of the candles every week.

Yes, in the sanctuary. It also goes up at the beginning of Advent.

The kids always put on a Christmas play centered around Luke's gospel. Santa does not have a part in the play, and I am glad for that. I can't think of any other activities that we have or that I wish we did.

We explained to our daughter that Santa embodied the spirit of Christmas. As she was able to understand, we taught her about St. Nicholas, and how Santa Clause came to be part of the Christmas culture.

No Advent.

Christmas tree in the Lobby.

Children do a small Christmas program.

No Grandchildren. We sort of ignored Santa but their Grandparents made a big deal. When they were old enough to understand we told them.

I'm unfamiliar with this. Advent? Like 7th Day Adventists? Guess I'm more of a country bumpkin than I thought.

(church?) there'll be a Christmas Eve service ... a kind of come-go.

Do you have a Christmas Tree in the sanctuary or elsewhere in the church
not in the sanctuary, but in the fellowship hall

Will you be having a Christmas play and/or cantata?
kids have a play. adult choir a cantata

No

We haven't had young kids for a long time, but not quite senior to be grandparents, so it's no problem. But we DID have the ideal of Santa Clause in our celebration .. St. Nick was a real person and by all account quite the giving fellow.

Any other comments?
We're about 3 months late in celebrating. I think that's relevant though I haven't quite determined how.

No, we have one at home though and we link it to the cross

Yes, we just had ours

We tell our children that Santa is a fictional character, just like in a book or a movie and that he's not real and that the character exists nowadays purely to take glory from Christ.
