Aim of Impeachment Was to Criminalize Trump Voters

I always say it's never really about Trump. It's about us: conservatives generally, and Christians specifically. This can be cured with a convention of states.

Aim of Impeachment Was to Paint All Trump Voters as Criminals: Rep. Mike Johnson

Rep. Mike Johnson (R-La.) says Democrats used the impeachment of former President Donald Trump as a tool to paint all of his supporters with the brush of Capitol breach-related criminality.

Johnson told Breitbart News in an interview on Feb. 14 that the ultimate aim of impeaching Trump a second time was to associate the 75 million Americans who voted for him with those individuals who on Jan. 6 broke the law.

“They really wanted to use impeachment as a vehicle because they wanted to equate all those tens of millions of Trump’s voters and all of his supporters and everybody who came to the rally, they wanted to equate all of those people with the couple hundred criminals who came in and ransacked the Capitol,” Johnson told the outlet.

Asked about the future of impeachment, Johnson said it would increasingly become a tool of partisan spats.

“You weaponized this. You turned it into a political weapon to be used by the majority party against a president they don’t like. You opened a Pandora’s box that we may never be able to close again,” Johnson said.

“What [Democrats] tried to do [is] to raise ‘cancel culture’ now to a constitutional level,” Johnson said, echoing remarks made on Feb. 12 by David Schoen, one of the three attorneys representing Trump who accused Democrats of using impeachment as a tool to disqualify political opponents.

“In short, this unprecedented effort is not about Democrats opposing political violence. It is about Democrats trying to disqualify their political opposition. It is constitutional cancel culture,” Shoen said.

They have a narrative designed to advance the Dem Progressive Left agenda at all costs. They cannot afford debate, for they know they would lose. They must create an illusion that deludes the masses, who will assist them in their insistence that any opposition be silenced.

It is disappointing that so many can be so deluded, but not all that surprising. Lies can be very powerful tools, and the deceivers are becoming ever more expert through focus groups. How can those who think so shallowly, so emotionally, so selfishly not be fooled, especially when being flattered?

OP: "Aim of Impeachment Was to Criminalize Trump Voters"
Not only "Was" but IS their ongoing aim.

They are setting up the Federal intelligence agencies to rout out domestic terrorist (Trump supporters!) from our military and general population.

Before we forget the Capitol attack, make domestic terrorism the top priority it should be
"The Biden administration’s announcement that domestic terrorism is a high priority is welcome news and sorely needed, particularly after the armed attack on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6. An announced commitment is a good starting place, but without a clear, comprehensive and lasting plan, it is not enough."

It should be added here that we all must be on our guard. If we think we cannot be fooled by a lie, and especially if we consider certain sources infallible or nearly so, then we are very vulnerable to believing a lie.

I'm clinging desperately to a thin thread of hope, a lifeline for when the day comes, that I will turn out to be one of those several million swing voters deemed to have marked Biden on his final ballot. :Wink

FOR THE RECORD! Trump was impeached as a sitting President
Trump was found not guilty when he was a private citizen

FTR - Yes, I am a Trump supporter:
1) Yes, a man can be impeached/convicted after leaving office
2) Trump did nothing wrong worth being impeached

Recommended laws
No person shall be subject to impeachment after 18 full calendar months following
his exit from public office in which he held for the purpose of impeachment.
(Thus a POTUS term ends on 20 Jan 2021- - effective 1 Aug 22, he could not be impeached.)

It was an illegal proceeding

and where does COTUS prohibit that to happen
You're thinking all wrong about the Constitution. The government doesn't have carte blanche where there is no prohibition. It has no power where it is not expressly defined.

Hmmm...the SC justice refused to reside over it us very telling. The constitution doesnt give room for anything else. Only a sitting President can be impeached and tried in the Senate. The whole thing was a circus.

You can not impeach then follow thru and convict a private citizen, what is the GOAL of impeaching someone, well, to remove them from political OFFICE.
So after Trump left office, all impeachment charges should have been dropped.

Democrats 'interpret' the Constitution to suit their wishes, in a similar way people hold to private scriptural interpretations, both are wrong.

So evidently, televising the inauguration is also un-constitutional.
