"The Southern Baptist Convention has delayed a decision on whether to remove Rick Warren's Saddleback Church from the denomination in light of the California megachurch's ordination of three female pastors last year."

One lady is "pastor" of children's ministry, another of student's ministry and the third of care ministry. If they had ordained them as "directors" rather than pastors, would there be such a huh bub? What were their prior titles? Had they been ordained for their prior position? Me thinks something is rotten in Denmark.

The fact that they were ordained shows what Saddleback is doing.

Where does scripture say females engaged in church ministry should not be ordained, the doctrine of laying on of hands?

Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Hebrews 6:2
teaching about baptisms, laying on of hands, resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment.

Matthew 19:13
Then little children were brought to him for him to lay his hands on them and pray. But the disciples scolded those who brought them.

Mark 5:23
He asked him urgently, "My little daughter is near death. Come and lay your hands on her so that she may be healed and live."

Mark 10:16
After he took the children in his arms, he placed his hands on them and blessed them.

1Ti 4:14

Do not neglect the spiritual gift you have, given to you and confirmed by prophetic words when the elders laid hands on you.

1 Timothy 5:22
Do not lay hands upon anyone too quickly and thereby share responsibility for the sins of others; keep yourself free from sin.

It appears that in our local assemblies, our leaders are to confirm those chosen for ministry with the laying on of hands.

My issue is the choice to title these servants as "Pastors." Why change their title?

It was not much of a Rebuke. Could have been much stronger.

Seems like Mohler has been less vocal toward the ever-increasing progressive movement within the SBC. The fact that he spoke up somewhat surprises me, but it would have been nice if he rebuked Rick Warren - who spent his whole time talking about himself and comparing himself to Jesus.

Mohler, Piper, Russel Moore and others are blowing whichever way the winds blow now. And the winds are blowing like Katrina in the direction of Wokeism and Wokeanity. I got entirely tired with their incessant dancing around the bushes, afraid that they might offend someone. Mohler and Piper still have the capacity to turn back IMO.

Doug Wilson, Jared Longshore, Voddie Baucham, Steve Lawson, James White, and more are so much more refreshing. They just spit out the Truth without care about all the P.C pagans and Wokesters.

Seems that the Sbc now headed back full tilt to where it was back when was a moderate vrs conservative fight, only solved when those such as Adrian Rogers and Charles Stanley were elected Sbc presidents!

And there are no men of that caliber to lead the SBC right now unfortunately.

Sadly, solid bible preaching men like those two are becoming fewer and further between. I certainly don't want the SBC to sink, as it has been a strong bastion for many years against the ever increasing apostate churches, but it doesn't look especially promising. There is little to no doubt that this infiltration happened partly because of the seminaries that belong to SBC, liberals have been infiltrating them for years in order to bring them down - Harvard, and many of the Ivy league schools are good examples.

They are here. Problem is too many conservative churches won't send a messenger and almost none send their max amount. I got on one local pastor pretty hard about not sending any messengers. His church with 30 people was eligible to send as many messengers as most Megas and they sent none.
The SBC is rigged against the small church anyway. If they really wanted the voice of the small church heard, proxy voting would be eliminated. Proxy would in the past have been cumbersome, but with smart phones, it would be a breeze now.

Most of those small churches are drowning in money. That one in particular definitely is. They just don't want to go. I can't blame them. Conventions are more seminary reunions than anything else.
Why won't SBC entertain the idea of proxy? No good reason not to do it.

Not smoking anything. The vast majority of the small SBC churches around here have plenty of money. The membership is for the most part upper middle class. The churches have plenty in the bank and can get plenty more if they need it. Most of these churches around here with 30 to 100 members have large bank accounts. That's why they eligible for so many messengers. Give so much to Lottie Moon and Annie Armstrong.

The larger churches are the cash strapped ones. Around here anyway.
