Orders We Will Not Obey

“The time is now near at hand which must probably determine, whether Americans are to be, Freemen, or Slaves; whether they are to have any property they can call their own; whether their Houses, and Farms, are to be pillaged and destroyed, and they consigned to a State of Wretchedness from which no human efforts will probably deliver them. The fate of unborn Millions will now depend, under God, on the Courage and Conduct of this army” -- Gen. George Washington, to his troops before the battle of Long Island

Such a time is near at hand again. The fate of unborn millions will now depend, under God, on the Courage and Conduct of this Army -- and this Marine Corps, This Air Force, This Navy and the National Guard and police units of these sovereign states.

Oath Keepers is a non-partisan association of currently serving military, reserves, National Guard, peace officers, fire-fighters, and veterans who swore an oath to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic … and meant it. We won’t “just follow orders.”

Below is our declaration of orders we will NOT obey because we will consider them unconstitutional (and thus unlawful) and immoral violations of the natural rights of the people. Such orders would be acts of war against the American people by their own government, and thus acts of treason. We will not make war against our own people. We will not commit treason. We will defend the Republic.

Declaration of Orders We Will NOT Obey

Recognizing that we each swore an oath to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic, and affirming that we are guardians of the Republic, of the principles in our Declaration of Independence, and of the rights of our people, we affirm and declare the following:

Folks, below is yet another veteran taking his “congresscritter” to task for violating the oath. This combat vet’s name is Paul Curtman, and in the below video, he is giving US Senator Claire McCakill (MO) a piece of his mind about her violation of the oath. Thought you would enjoy this one too. The meme of keeping the oath is spreading, and it is good to see. Sure, we Oath Keepers would love to take credit, but it is probably more a case of like minds thinking alike. It should be obvious, and plain as the noses on all of our faces, that those who take an oath should keep it, and if they don’t, they should be called on it. About time that began to happen. Interesting OP.

I found it interesting that, among the orders the say they won't obey, are orders to detain Aerican citizens as enemy combatants, which is something Obama supports, but also something that some Americans oppose Obama for.

The other interesting order they won't obey is any order to detain Americans in detention camps. I can't help but wonder how many of those believed it was okay to inter Japanese during WWII, because there are a few folks on this board who believe it was okay.

This is certainly in the spirit of the Declaration of Independence but I find no support for such action in the Constitution. This says that any group has the right to overthrow the government if they decide they don't like what is currently happening in the country. How do you decide who can do this and who can't?

It seems to me that this is simply a call for another civil war. What if the Anti-War protesters during the Viet Nam war had done this? Would Buchanan have supported that action? I seriously doubt it. Why is the "Oather" cause one which qualifies for an overthrow of the government but the Anti-War movement is not? To me it does not. If you allow one group to overthrow the government you open the door to many groups doing the same thing.

Upholding an oath to protect and defend the constitution equals overthrowing the government?

This kind of thought can only come from absorbing way to much mainstream corporate propaganda. Wait, you're Chris Matthews aren't you?

What happened to thinking on your own? That didn't last long.

You'll have to forgive him. He's not used to supporting politicians that keep their oath. He's a sheep. Just follows blindly.

You Might Be a Constitutionalist If. . .

1. You might be a Constitutionalist if you believe that every congressman, senator, President, and Supreme Court justice is required to obey the U.S. Constitution.

2. You might be a Constitutionalist if you believe that before the United States invades and occupies another country, Congress must first declare war.

3. You might be a Constitutionalist if you believe the federal government should live within its means, like everyone else is forced to do.

4. You might be a Constitutionalist if you think that taking away people's liberties in the name of security is not patriotic, nor does it make the country more secure.

5. You might be a Constitutionalist if you would like to see politicians be forced to abide by the same laws they make everyone else submit to.

6. You might be a Constitutionalist if you understand that we have three "separate but equal" branches of government that are supposed to hold each other in check and balance.

7. You might be a Constitutionalist if you believe that the federal government has no authority to be involved in education or law enforcement, or in any other issue that the Tenth Amendment reserves to the States, or to the People.

8. You might be a Constitutionalist if you believe that gun control laws do nothing but aid and abet criminals while trampling the rights and freedoms of law-abiding citizens.

9. You might be a Constitutionalist if you believe that the income tax is both unconstitutional and immoral, and, along with the I.R.S. and the Federal Reserve, should be abolished.

10. You might be a Constitutionalist if you believe the federal government had no authority to tell former Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore that he could not display a monument containing the Ten Commandments in the Alabama Judicial Building in Montgomery; or to tell a Pace, Florida, high school principal that he could not pray before a meal.

Our "government" is to be by the people, for the people, and of the people. Our current politicians don't seem to understand this. They think we are to be loyal to THEM and not the CONSTITUTION. It's up to "the people" to remind them why they are in office.

Make up your mind. Your last posts have been very confusing.

The first part of nearly every official oath contains something along the line of "support and defend the Constitution" before it makes mention of responsibilities subordinate to that. If a person choses not to obey an order from another placed over them then that person must be certain of what they are doing and be prepared to suffer the consequences which could be severe. But, if an order is contrary to the Constitution, then such a person has a duty to refuse the order. It should not happen often nor for trivial reasons but, if the system becomes so corrupted, then it may become necessary. The Constitution was - is and should be - our basic contract granting certain limited rights to a minimal government necessary to provide fundamental justice and security. The concept was never to provide a government that regulates all aspects of our lives, solves every problem we may face in life, or provides equal blessings to all persons. What we have is way out of control and getting worse every year. It is very likely that many "decisions" will have to be made some day if the trend continues.

Before one can think for themselves, one must have read the Constitution, passed a government and/or American history course, kept up with current events, and to add perspective, served in the military or appreciate those who do. Those that have done none of these cannot only not think for themselves, they are capable of nothing but mindless posts.

By the way, great thread.

(1) You might be a cod brain if you believe that man is in control of your life instead of God.
(2) You might be a cod brain if you believe that the country that was founded on our Constitution is obsolete.
(3) You might be a cod brain if you believe that whatever man does will change the will of God.
(4) You might be a cod brain if you believe in what you read on the internet (or the Inquirerer, People, or other junk.), about the demise of man instead of believing what God said about what will happen.
(5) You might be a cod brain if you believe that you know what will happen to this world as opposed to what God has already told us what will happen in His Word.
(6) You might be a cod brain if, God has spoken to you, and you talk about how man needs to 'save' himself instead of how God sent His Son to save us.

This is one of the best threads I have seen in a long time. I would urge everyone, one year before the 2010 elections, to stop and think before casting one ballot. Stop and think, who are we the people going to put in power when the idiots in power now (the Democrats) bring America to its knees by doing everything except what the Constitution says. Are we going to put in the other idiots (Repubicans) to straighten things out? Does our governmental performance from 2001-2009 suggest to you that this is the solution, a party that claims to be conservative and Constitutional, and proves to be neither?

The endless cycle of hopelessness has been going on long enough. Nothing is going to change until we the people change it, and that means putting in power neither Democrats nor Republicans. It means putting people in power who believe in the Constitution, govern by the Constitituion, and most of all, have a heart for serving the American people instead of stealing from them daily.

The power of the United States comes from the people and flows to the government. The government does not give us power. It is time for leadership the inspires each of us to do our best, and go beyond what we consider our limits, not a government that dumbs us down. We need leadership that encourages us to help each other and build our communities, not a government that gives communities handouts in exchange for their soul.

It is time for a government that left us alone to worship when and how we choose, and to stay away from our houses of worship. It is time for a government that leaves parents to raise their own children.

It is time to elect 435 new congressmen, and 34 new senators that believe in the Constitution in 2010. Our first expenditure should be a new prison with chain gangs, rock breaking parties, no air conditioning, and a menu of rice and beans after every defeated member of congress is convicted of bribery, treason, and robbing the American people.

I totally agree. (I'm not a republican, never have been.) But I'm also not Liberal Lite (Libertarian).
Chain gangs, etc. per your post?
You're too nice.
I'm for public executions by hanging in the town square, with a sign around thier necks. 'Child Molester', 'Murderer', 'Rapist', 'Dealer of Drugs to Children'.
Will never happen. (Note the bleeding -heart replies to my post).
('course, these are the same people who will let an intruder come into their homes and kill/rape their family until they come to them, THEN they will cry 'self-defense'.)
We now have a case in Texas where some are saying a man was put to death who was innocent.
They (the government) can make all the laws they want. But when one is faced with an armed intruder intent on robbery, rape, or worse, stating the law to them that what they are doing is illegal will not save you.
Here is a question for all the liberals.........
Why does not one hear about police stations, shooting ranges, military bases, etc. being robbed?
It's always where guns are prohibited that the criminals strike.
Why? Because even the most drug addled moron knows better than to mess with the bull.
Now, how does this tie into the OP?
We would not be 'Alienized and Radicalized' if the government did what we paid them for.
Instead of being told that we are the problem because we won't do what they want.
(Oh.....geez........I'm starting to depress myself....I'm starting to sound like Poncho.)
