This combat vet’s name is Paul Curtman, and in the below video, he is giving US Senator Claire McCakill (MO) a piece of his mind about her violation of the oath. Thought you would enjoy this one too. The meme of keeping the oath is spreading, and it is good to see. Sure, we Oath Keepers would love to take credit, but it is probably more a case of like minds thinking alike. It should be obvious, and plain as the noses on all of our faces, that those who take an oath should keep it, and if they don’t, they should be called on it. About time that began to happen. Interesting OP.

I found it interesting that, among the orders the say they won't obey, are orders to detain Aerican citizens as enemy combatants, which is something Obama supports, but also something that some Americans oppose Obama for.

The other interesting order they won't obey is any order to detain Americans in detention camps. I can't help but wonder how many of those believed it was okay to inter Japanese during WWII, because there are a few folks on this board who believe it was okay.

This is certainly in the spirit of the Declaration of Independence but I find no support for such action in the Constitution. This says that any group has the right to overthrow the government if they decide they don't like what is currently happening in the country. How do you decide who can do this and who can't?

It seems to me that this is simply a call for another civil war. What if the Anti-War protesters during the Viet Nam war had done this? Would Buchanan have supported that action? I seriously doubt it. Why is the "Oather" cause one which qualifies for an overthrow of the government but the Anti-War movement is not? To me it does not. If you allow one group to overthrow the government you open the door to many groups doing the same thing.

The first part of nearly every official oath contains something along the line of "support and defend the Constitution" before it makes mention of responsibilities subordinate to that. If a person choses not to obey an order from another placed over them then that person must be certain of what they are doing and be prepared to suffer the consequences which could be severe. But, if an order is contrary to the Constitution, then such a person has a duty to refuse the order. It should not happen often nor for trivial reasons but, if the system becomes so corrupted, then it may become necessary. The Constitution was - is and should be - our basic contract granting certain limited rights to a minimal government necessary to provide fundamental justice and security. The concept was never to provide a government that regulates all aspects of our lives, solves every problem we may face in life, or provides equal blessings to all persons. What we have is way out of control and getting worse every year. It is very likely that many "decisions" will have to be made some day if the trend continues.

Before one can think for themselves, one must have read the Constitution, passed a government and/or American history course, kept up with current events, and to add perspective, served in the military or appreciate those who do. Those that have done none of these cannot only not think for themselves, they are capable of nothing but mindless posts.

This is one of the best threads I have seen in a long time. I would urge everyone, one year before the 2010 elections, to stop and think before casting one ballot. Stop and think, who are we the people going to put in power when the idiots in power now (the Democrats) bring America to its knees by doing everything except what the Constitution says. Are we going to put in the other idiots (Repubicans) to straighten things out? Does our governmental performance from 2001-2009 suggest to you that this is the solution, a party that claims to be conservative and Constitutional, and proves to be neither?

The endless cycle of hopelessness has been going on long enough. Nothing is going to change until we the people change it, and that means putting in power neither Democrats nor Republicans. It means putting people in power who believe in the Constitution, govern by the Constitituion, and most of all, have a heart for serving the American people instead of stealing from them daily.

The power of the United States comes from the people and flows to the government. The government does not give us power. It is time for leadership the inspires each of us to do our best, and go beyond what we consider our limits, not a government that dumbs us down. We need leadership that encourages us to help each other and build our communities, not a government that gives communities handouts in exchange for their soul.

It is time for a government that left us alone to worship when and how we choose, and to stay away from our houses of worship. It is time for a government that leaves parents to raise their own children.

It is time to elect 435 new congressmen, and 34 new senators that believe in the Constitution in 2010. I totally agree. (I'm not a republican, never have been.) But I'm also not Liberal Lite (Libertarian).

We now have a case in Texas where some are saying a man was put to death who was innocent.
They (the government) can make all the laws they want. But when one is faced with an armed intruder intent on robbery, rape, or worse, stating the law to them that what they are doing is illegal will not save you. :sleep:
