@1689Dave Regardless of how "good" we think we live, we cannot do so perfectly. Therefore, we never give "all" as that would require 100% perfection, and we can't do that in these vile bodies. Even 99.999999% is not perfection. Our sin imputed to Christ and Christ's righteousness imputed to us is what is required, not our performance, to have a right standing with God.
Paul teaches us how to avoid sinning while it is a temptation by walking in the Spirit.

Who are you to say?

Here's my approach to walking in the Spirit.

“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;” (2 Corinthians 10:5) (KJV 1900)

We censor every impure thought or imagination. And change the channel in our thinking on any thought that does not conform to obedience to Christ.

And we replace it with:

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” (Philippians 4:8)

Knowing Jesus is God and God is love, Jesus is Lord of our lives when love rules our thoughts and actions.

How is this not surrendering every thought and to Christ?
Unless you live a perfect life, you haven't surrendered all. There is still layers in your life that are not surrendered. Otherwise, Hebrews 12 and God's discipline doesn't apply to you. If it doesn't apply, then God says you are an illegitimate child. I think you are legitimate so therefore you are not perfect and haven't surrendered all.

Temptation? Yes, But Paul teaches us how to nip it in the bud before it becomes sin.

You can never, ever live perfectly on this earth, not even for a short time. This is your and my and every human being's condition - saved or lost.

Genesis 6:5 Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

You are misrepresenting me. Can you not sin by killing temptation? Paul teaches this.

Resist once, then what about the next time, and the next time, and the next time, and the next time, and the next time, and the next time...

Do as Paul says 24/7. It's a lifestyle of resisting the devil and the flesh. It's strange you are unaware of this. I do it in my dreams too.

Ken, it is so refreshing to know that we have BB members who never sin!

If you take Paul's line of thought, it becomes a habit ingrained into your wicked flesh. When temptation wells up, you can overcome it by changing the channel of your imaginations and thoughts. We are wicked beyond belief, but with the temptation, God provides a way out. = Basic Christianity.

Are you being serious? Surely you are pulling our legs.
Have you ever been chastised by the Lord for sinning? John says we cannot sin if born-again. This doesn't mean what you think. God chastises us so severely sometimes, you never want to experience it again.

But slipping is the exception, not the rule.

Wow! Just wow! You are in need of serious spiritual help. I suggest you find a faithful gospel preacher and sit under the teaching of Christ's gospel. I can suggest a couple to you that you can sit under via SermonAudio if there is no one in your area.

Have you ever asked God to lead you not into temptation? But deliver you instead? It works, but if you ask doubting as you do, even the asking is sin.

1 John 1:10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.
I am probably the worst sinner I know. I would probably trade places with you in a heartbeat. But you do not need to yield to temptation. It's only an excuse to continue walking in the flesh instead of the Spirit.
